So this forum gets a fairly wide range of geography. Question for people familiar with New Orleans....

My wife and I are looking to get her clinical psych internship and my medical school in the same area, and New Orleans is looking like a good fit at the moment (I'm very competitive at Tulane, she has 3 sites she has a good shot at).

Is New Orleans really as dangerous as the murder capital of the US suggests? Or is it more like Chicago, where one half of the city is fairly safe while the other half is a **** hole?

Yea, I'm pretty bad at spotting the fakes, but I'm even worse at caring.

My thinking about NO is that it is a pretty dangerous city, but much of that can be avoided by carefully choosing where you live/go. Not really the expert on the subject, though as I lived in north Louisiana. I'd try to talk to Noze (who I assume is the former NozeCandy) because I know he used to live there. I have some IRL friends I could run housing areas by, but really the most knowledgeable person I know about NO is pretty biased after living there their whole life and isn't really on the whole New Orleans is dangerous train.

Well Noze and NozeCandy might be different people, I just assumed he asked to switch his name somewhere along the way. With that said I did see an old post the other day from the poster NozeCandy, and I thought it was odd because if his name had been changed at some point I figured that would be reflected in every post he ever posted.
