i mean i suppose that story is theoretically possible, but a lot of the sensational posts on reddit are fake (or completely biased viewpoints based on one person's story). it's a site that is very easily worked up into a frenzy over completely false info either for the entertainment or advancement of someone else. see: the patriot act news item that was posted yesterday for the most recent example.

that's why lots of their sub-reddits are now requiring pretty extensive verification by a mod before a post is allowed to go on

all that said, there is some pretty crazy **** posted on there that is real... im just always so skeptical til i see a mod saying they've verified it. like i said, this story could definitely be potentially true, but i wouldnt pass judgment quite yet.
