Mothra et al, Godzilla defends the homeland in some of the movies IIRC.

Anyway the point is that Bonds is a perfect litmus test for non-SF fanboys. (Obviously most from SF love him.) If you are not a SF fanboy and you hate Bonds, you are an idiot and understand nothing about baseball. Or you are 40+, but most of those people are idiots simply because they are old.

Kyle sounds high. I wouldn't know though because I only get high on one drug: life. And God is my dealer!

I love Bonds and have been defending him against friends who say he is anything but the GOAT for over a decade.

Yeota always liked something that really good, despite having no prior attachments to them, I am shocked.

Another reason I dislike Griffey is because he was always held up as a paragon of doing it right during the steroid era, eventhough he was a lazy **** ... I probably should have empathized with him since I am also a lazy ****, but so goes it.

Since we're on this topic, I would like to see what those three posters think about the following people/figures:

Grant Hill
Mother Teresa
Hitler

Grant Hill - old
Mother T - dead
Hitler - could not draw people very well, was more focused on the environment

Jr. forced the trade to the Reds in a way that left them with little leverage.

Then a few years ago when he came back and was totally done he supposedly turned the whole clubhouse against Don Wakamatsu because Wak benched him for being terrible. Wak eventually got fired (probably correctly, but still- feel bad for the guy who lost his team because he benched a DH that couldn't get a ball out the infield).

Some of it less that I hate Jr and more that I really hate how Seattle fans just fawn all over him despite being shat on twice. Compare that to the incredible bitter reaction to A-Rod (whom the M's lowballed and didn't really make a good faith effort to retain) and ugh. Fans in this city can ess a dee.

Yeah but A-Rod always came off like a fake little bitch so turning on him wasn't exactly hard.

FWIW, I didn't like Grant Hill. I disliked his running mate Laettner even more, though. It still pisses me off that he will forever be a member of Dream Team I.

Pretty much, if you have ever worn a jersey with the word DUKE across the front, you have my ire.

Cool link talking about how often individual players/coaches were mentioned on NFL Countdown and SportsCentre

http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2...s-on-espn.html

Would have thought Peyton would have been lower, and Brees higher initially.

Comparing the treatment received between Arod and Griffey is just turrrible, for a number of reasons:
1. Griffey spent a substantial time with the M's and was there from their low days to highs and was the number one factor to their rise
2. Griffey is just a likable personality, and well, Arod is not.
3. Anytime a player leaves a team to sign a $250 million contract, he's gon get the haters mad. (it's natural fandom).

And to diddlystein: you're a duke hater, so your distaste for Grant Hill is understandable.

so leaving to sign the richest contract in sports history makes you a dick, but demanding a trade AND making sure the Mariners don't get equal value in return so as not to cripple the Reds is ok?

Where does being a lazy-ass who spent the last ten years of his career on the DL with hamstring pulls because he couldn't be bothered to take care of himself rank on that list?
