So umm...my dad was "given" a London Fog Trench coat and just gave it to me. I know very little about the high class world. I go to check out what one of these costs...my mind is blown. It really makes me wonder if my dad is connected sometimes.

Oh...I was definitely looking at the wrong thing then. But yeah, pretty excited to actually own a coat of some sort, lol. Sweatshirts all the time is pretty unprofessional.

I have the exact same concern when I wear long coats, so I avoid them and my knees/thighs must suffer the cold.

Meh, I got a long (middle of my shins) leather Trench Coat about 6 years ago for Christmas and it's the best gift I think I've ever received. Inside the upper body portion is lined in very soft fur, so it's warm enough that I've stood outside in downtown Indy for the Tree Lighting (remember our talk about getting dragged to **** by girlfriends...) in near zero degree weather without issue.

Heavy as hell though, probably weights 20-30 pounds.

i prefer to wear something like this (and normally do most days):

but on an especially freezing cold/rainy/windy day, it wont keep you all that warm.

Yeah this goes right about mid-shins, maybe even a touch lower. God, this whole growing up thing is killing me. Why couldn't I just be coaching at some college somewhere in the south so I can be wearing jeans and polo's everyday.

I think Carrey Mulligan is fine as an actress in general, but it tilts me pretty hard that she's playing Daisy in The Great Gatsby. No, just no.

really? i'd wager many people believe what ikes said and simply do not say it. tactless, obv b/c it's not an accusation to be made lightly, but it's not like it's some crazy logical leap

I'm not big on the distinction between the various drugs that are collectively known as date rape. If the potential effects of the one he is talking about are really ~the same as alcohol then he sort of has a point, but I suspect that is not true.

I say potential effects because I really dont care if he uses it responsibly or not, it doesn't speak to the question of whether it should be legalised.

Cite. Otherwise you're talking out of your ass.

And either way, you're still wrong. Alcohol does more harm than many illegal drugs, yet Western culture has embraced it. 1 The only difference between alcohol and most drugs is that alcohol does not have the same social stigma attached to it.

According to your logic, we should also ban alcohol since there are people who do not use it responsibly.
