Think about how, at the time, GHB wasn't even a schedule I drug at the Federal level in the USA. I couldn't even look up what it was in Illinois as this was the pre everything digitalized age. I know some of you may not understand that. I'm not an idiot, though. I'm skeptical of everything. I figured it would be breaking a state law, and I was OK with that. I had no idea it would be treated as ugly as it was. Since when did the weight of water make something an automatic distribution charge.
I was using a better version of alcohol. That's what I used it for - an alcohol substitute. That's all it ever was in my mind. That's all it remains. It's only illegal because of the ridiculous puritan attitude on drugs in this country and because the big liquor companies didn't want to compete with it. It's cheaper. It's effects are better for you. It's just as fun. It was drunk with awareness when used properly. Then, I could get my full sleep, kick ass on my classes, work my way through college, keep a girlfriend as happy as my 19yr old self was capable, work out, and enjoy the college party life a bit again the next day.
I knew a o****tn of drug users. I knew of a few abusers/ drug losers, but that wasn't the type I was attracted to and didn't seek info out on them. Like everything else in life, well adjusted people can incorporate drug use into their life without issue as they do gambling, credit, work-life balance, etc. The best achievers I knew in school and post-school were heavy drug users.
I'm sad, to this day, that I end up using alcohol as much as I do and cannot get some liquid G instead.
