One guaranteed negative from every frat boy friend of mine is they all come out of college with bad tats* and/or a tobacco habit of some kind (usually smokeless). And of course a sizable percentage are fast tracked to future alcoholism and/or drug addiction.

* Luckily most were graduating college in the mid-90s so the ink is usually some subtle lame one like a greek letter on their ankle or whatever. I shudder to think of the ******ed tats they are yielding today.

My head coach went to Montclair. They had a Athlete/Frat. He only played 1 year of football because of that. Until then I never heard of it and honestly when he told me about it I was like, "what...why?"

I still don't get the "why?" part of being a frat as I feel like there are a ton of perks of not being one but....sure why not?

Kutztown had so few frats and sororities. They seemed kinda cool but seemed to think they had "dibs" on any sorority girls which always seemed to cause problems.

i mean, i see the value in frats, was asked to rush by a couple my freshman year and considered it, but i didn't see the point. there's almost nothing i could get by being in a frat that i can't get without being in one besides the whole 20-year-down-the-road "hey hire me cuz i went to such and such chapter of your frat"

I don't really think frats are any more dumb that any group that puts together 30+ 18-21 year old males would be. There's a lot of negatives, there's a lot of positives. Making any type of default judgement is pretty stupid.

being in a good fraternity is awesome, probably the best decision i made in college

some suck

like always people not in them will completely underrate and people in them will completely overrate

business/professional/honor fraternities seem like a complete scam and i always ignored the invites i got

Yeah. Andn soccer girls are nuts. Partied at their house a couple times. Lots of football players showed up there which is real cool when you're an underclassman.

2 of my friends were on our rugby team and they had a house so we partied there all the time. absolutely the most insane parties ever, for some reason girls flocked to that rugby house

I had to go blind into the dorms my sophomore year because I didn't know if I would be healthy enough to go to school the next year until April of my freshman year. Ended up with a random kid from detroit who dropped out two week in. Kept real quiet about it and ended up with a double dorm to myself for a whole year.
