An RA (from another floor) did the same thing to me and my friends, minus actually getting charges against us - he did do lots of threatening and lock the lounge for awhile tho. Game was 5-dollar buy-in and everything. We told him the money on the table was pooled for pizza, he didnt buy that. What a douche.

Meanwhile, the RA from my own floor bought us (all underage at the time) beer. And drank it with us. In the dorms. On a dry campus. So he was cool ****.

I never understood hardcore RA's. Were they legally liable for things that happened? I know they could potentially be fired so that's not cool if that is how they were getting through college. But hardcore that you go after gambling? I think I now understand the guys that wrote us up for having parties in dorm rooms, I was really pissed then though, lol.

You gotta understand the people that want to be RAs tho. Some of them just want an easy way to pay for housing. But others do it because they think it makes them hot ****. Omg Im 19 years old and I run a whole floor at a university, that must make me incredibly important! And it goes to their head.

This happens with tons of people in all walks of life unfortunately. Government workers, cops, secretaries, 2p2mods, etc etc.

There are weirder reasons for signing up for the job tho. The RA from a friend's floor was gay, and he basically became an RA so he could get the single room and have guys over and... well... So that was disgusting. (Just get an apartment bro, come on) Another RA from the building I was in was hardcore christian and tried to like spread the gospel on his floor, which was just incredibly sad to watch. Writing all this Christian stuff on the door markerboards and hallway posters and stuff. Whew.

freshman year i lived in a 3 floor dorm building, with each floor having its own RA obviously. one weekend, someone put 2 holes in the walls in the basement/study lounge, threw up on the stairs, and broke the lock to the laundry room.

we had a building meeting with the RD, and the other two RAs were chill about it (but had to look serious) the 2nd floor RA (not mine thank god) went absolutely ape **** (some blond chick) and was screaming at us for a solid 10 minutes. she finished it off with the lines of "when you guys are here, i am your mother and you should respect me"

some kid raised his hand and said "my mother does my laundry, so are you going to do mine?" she was just speechless

everyone (including RD) laughed

my freshman year RA almost lost his job. there was a kid dealing drugs on our floor, and it was really obvious (room always smelled, at least 40-50 kids a day walking in and out) at a floor meeting, RA said "i know someone is selling weed. stop now before another RA calls the cops"

kid obviously didn't stop, and 2nd floor RA i mentioned before was doing rounds and called the cops. kid got kicked out + sent to jail, and my RA had to go to a crap ton of meetings and all that about it. i was friendly with him, and they didn't charge him because there was never a complaint issues about the smell of weed from our floor + any problems really

I don't think I ever met my ra. I remember there were some hall meetings we had to go to but I never did. Once they fined everyone on the hall like 50 bucks because someone broke a 20 dollar chair

Yeah exactly, if he hadn't done anything about and one of the students called the cops eventually, ra likely gets fired and either suspended or expelled.

my junior year the RA in my dorm confiscated the cord of the big HD tv we had the common room (this when big HD tvs were a relatively new phenomenon) because people had gotten drunk and made a mess in said common room. on a sunday in the fall too.
