when you have two strikes, in most leagues a foul is strike three. Way to miss the point though.

If you aren't a completely hand-eye coordination ******, you can hit just about any slowpitch toss. Obv wait for something decent, but decent is a massive range. Its not like baseball or fastpitch softball where it needs to be there.

That said, if a pitcher walks you, he's probably terrible. Generally you pitch around people who look like they can hit, but when someone shows up looking for a walk because they can't play, you lob them in. Its just like pitching to a women who can't hit.

There's a few reasons. The first is, while Justin Verlander may not be a good wiffleball pitcher and Albert Pujols may not be able to hit my wiffleball sinker consistently, that doesn't mean he wouldn't be able to hit my sinker with a hardball

Obv hyperbole, but the point is all those games while similar in design and concept are pretty different wrt skillsets that excel at them. I played hardball most of my life. I was always good, not amazing. I was never a great hardball pitcher even though I did pitch for awhile. Played left and right mostly in HS, led teams in OBP and no scout ever gave a **** (probably why I always contend that getting a hit takes more skill than drawing a walk). But, was never as good at hardball as I was at wiffleball, plain and simple.

Apart from that, I just enjoy wiffleball more. At this point in my life, the dream of becoming CF for the Yankees is long over, so I don't feel the need to play hardball anymore. There are some local men's leagues I could get in, my friend plays for a team and they could use another OF and they ask me all the time, but it's a pretty serious commitment time wise and I guess I don't see the point in it. Softball and wiffleball are much less time consuming and suit me well.

An interesting story as kind of a sidebar to the first paragraph. I also play stickball sometimes, but not competitively of course but just for fun with friends (I wonder how many ppl even play stickball anymore lol). A friend of mine is a terrific stickball pitcher, and can throw a tennis ball very hard. Having played pickup baseball games with him my whole life, I never remembered thinking he could throw a hardball that fast. We had an experiment, getting some accurate radar guns and had him throw both. Indeed, he can throw a tennis ball considerably harder than he can throw a hardball. I have never met anyone else who could say the same, so it's kind of a weird thing I guess. But the idea is skills don't necessarily translate across different baseball derivatives.

Calling a carry is fine because I assume you're just giving the ball back to them anyway. I've never seen a pickup game where someone called a carry or a charge/hook and actually expected the ball. But if they do these things and gain an advantage while doing them which results in a score, it's perfectly fine to have them check it up.

In the games I was referring to, a carry/travel results in change of possession for sure.

I was referring to a carry. Kid just stopped, pointed, said "Carry, our ball." The kid with the ball wasn't even trying to make a move, he was just dribbling at the top of the key looking for someone to pass it to. Total douchery

In our games it was pretty common to call a carry on yourself, but I don't think it ever got called by the opposing team.

Yeah usually you get the benefit of the doubt on travels but you will be called for it when it's obvious.

But a carry is a whole different animal and this one was spite called after a guy was mad about being called for a travel last possession.

In my kickball league we had a guy on the other team take a walk in order to get the double walk RBI to break a tie in the top of the last inning. I was yelling at our pitcher to roll it as slow as he needed to get a strike and that he couldnt walk the guy. Sure enough he keeps trying to throw it hard and misses the plate 2 more times for a walk. Then he and everyone else on my team get confused and blame me for knowing the rule and not specifically saying "if you walk him they will score a run" when they could easily have read the rules and known that. I wasnt even upset with the guy that walked as it was smart, but boy was I furious at our pitcher.

Also, travels and carries are standard calls. Do you guys just allow the clown that takes 4 steps from the 3 point line to the rim to do that without a call?

Travels are standard but the vast majority of people I've hooped it with just call it on themselves. Carries have never been an issue unless it was laughably blatant.

Can I please nit the **** out of this and say that since it was the top of the inning and it is kickball, it isn't necessarily wrong to walk the guy? Or at least, saying you *can't* isn't really the same as in the bottom of the last inning?

we had our 5 girls stacked at the bottom of the lineup up in the bottom of the inning so it was in fact wrong.

meh, from experience, most ballers never call anything on themselves.

never had a huge problem with ppl traveling, and lol @ anyone trying to take a charge, but holy hell are some ppl awful with carrying. my buddy would do the whole turn the ball over, cup it from the bottom, pause, into a crossover like every time (AI style). he wouldn't even stop doing it or admit that it's a carry, so we basically had to ignore it and adjust or we could never play, lol.
