Not really, it received 86% from RT and a lot of critics gushed about it - I often check reviews of films after watching to see how my take lined up with others and was surprised at all the 4/4 type grades. No doubt some of them graded it higher than "normal" people because of artsy things like how it was a tribute to blaxploitation films, etc. You know, the type of stuff that 99.5% of the non-reviewers don't give a crap about.

It has a 64 on metacritic, which is the lowest score for a film directed by qt. It has its supporters but it's hardly beloved. I do agree that it seems like you need to be well versed in blaxploitation to love it.

The Wrestler was good and all but I would never even consider watching it again. Just makes you feel like pure dog****.

Rotten Tomatoes can be misleading because you can get movies that a bunch of people give a 6.5-7 and thus get "fresh" whereas a more divisive movie that may be better will have a worse rating.

I mentioned this in OOT, but I tried to watch Black Swan yesterday (put in on while high, and left it on in the background once I got distracted) and man- it seemed incredibly over the top and silly and I'm not sure what's really that interesting about a crazy person. Maybe if I'd let myself just get absorbed in the movie all the melodrama would work better, but my takeaways from it were basically that Mila Kunis is worth all the boners, and the French Dude only reminded me that Oceans 12 was horrible.

Also Res Dogs = GOAT QT film.

Also confirmed film nerds <3 Jackie Brown.

Dids,
It's a movie that will be really bad if you watch it half paying attention while high.

Pulled my groin at hockey tonight.

I work in an office by myself, although some co-workers (all male office) come in occasionally (about once every 2 hours). Inappropriate to ice groin while at work?

I warned her that if she came in close again she'd regret it. Sure enough, kinda close play, I pick the ball up. Instead of relaxing I raise both my elbows up, she runs her chest right into it, falls over and bitches at me for 'hitting' a girl.

Too harsh se? Or deserved?

Also, I hate coed leagues when girls get like this, fun otherwise.
my experience with coed basketball hasn't really been positive, situations like this occur far more than you'd think.

5. Deathproof
6. Jackie Brown

Django Unchained is supposedly being released this Christmas. Supposedly Kill Bill vol 3 is gonna be released in 2014.

have never seen deathproof.

I know you LOVE kill bill, and it's really good, but I'd have it 3rd, behind IB and PF

There's a 19+ all-women's team in the 38+ men's division in our baseball league. It seems to go okay except for the fact that they are really, really bad and the guys who are 38+ are actually pretty good baseball players. They never win a game, but I guess it works out for them.

Some women are on teams in the lowest division of our league. There's one who is an above-average player for the level (like a decent HS JV team is what we're talking about here). The rest are pretty atrocious. Still, everyone generally gets along, probably because it's not a physical contact game like soccer (yeah yeah) or basketball.

Yeah, I don't know how it would work in a basketball game, can the boys defend the girls at all?

I like the coed stuff because it's way more fun and social, which is a stark contrast from all of my other soccer experience.

Yes, they can. And what you get is that the good teams effectively rig the rules to minimize how many girls they play or actually have a (yes, "a", just 1) girl playing. so the "co-ed" turns into "let's actually have 4 pretty damn good players and hope they get matched on girls".

it's just silly. one time a girl set a pick on me, I didn't see her and just ran right over her. Meant no harm, no one called it out and I was chasing hard to defend well. I got called for a technical, play stopped, the ref warned me (LOL), etc. I mean, it was just bizarre, this is for a play that wouldn't even be stopped for a whistle in a normal game, much less cause a big on-court controversy.

you have to basically baby it constantly and watch your levels of aggression, they certainly get benefits of the whistle everywhere, you have the men competing at different levels bc they're unsure how hard they're "supposed" to play, etc.

for a physical game like basktball, it just doesn't work. soccer is pretty physical (although not as much) so I don't see how it works, either.

something like baseball works bc it's no contact.

Soccer is more physical, as in contact, than basketball imo. Bball has a ton more reliance on athleticism though, and I don't see how a girl could really be effective.

There's been plenty of girls with college experience who make a real positive impact in the coed league. Can't imagine that's true in basketball. No one goes out and tries to slide tackle anybody, but even the guys don't do that to each other.
