we played 13 (not sure if it goes by another name or if thats the real name, but its originally a vietnamese game) straight through classes all through high school. By senior year I was probably playing about 50 hands a day. Sometimes for money and other times just for the hell of it. Played a ton of spades junior year also. Had a running game in physics that went all year. My buddy and I won with a score of like 23,000 to 4,000 or something like that.

what made me think of the story was the discussion about checks... i remember one kid writing a check for like 275 to one of the other guys. i generally cut people off at a low level of losses because i'd feel bad. i would make a really bad casino.

Edit: Upon further review, it seems it's what my buddy calls "In-between". I've sworn never to play that game for money again. It's the worst game of all time, and that includes competitive live grenade juggling, and I hope anyone that enjoys it ends up in the hottest oven in hell.
