pretty sure that was fox, and it was a fuzzy grayish-blue. it worked for about 3 minutes until even the casual fans realized how stupid that was.

Problem is that the old tech never misses a dick high strike down the pipe. (OK it's happened before like twice. I can remember it happening to Oswalt once.)

The new tech might glitch and miss a strike there one in one billion times, and when it does, everyone will go ASJHFDAKSGHASIUGHNSAILUJGNBSAOGIJUSABHG UMPS BACK PLESAE

Maybe I'm just a donk.
Ive been doing this for about 4 years. I'll tivo an entire night's worth of basketball games, then watch them 1by1, each one is a new adventure.

If you can't understand it, I'm sorry? but I love tivo.

As far as sports coverage: I don't watch sportscenter. I don't watch ESPN, unless they are airing an NBA or EPL game. I do like NBA Gametime, because they actually show a ton of highlights. The commentary is generally funny. Brent Barry is a boss.

This is just a bizarre post. NO PROGRESS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! My first thought is "get a bigger TV dude".

There's already a ticker at the bottom of games on ESPN. No reason why the same ticker couldn't show things like "% chance of converting a first down vs. punting", "expected points this drive" or "ytd pass/run mix in this situation (or even out of that specific formation)"

Tons of potentially additive info evists

Right.

I had no idea there was such an apparent outrage.

I try to do it for the late SNF games because well it's really late here but apart from that I just can't record games and watch them later. I usually end up knowing the score in the SNF game and just fast forward thru to the best bits.

You're still a donk tho

Still waiting for ESPN the Ocho, which will be like ESPN and telecast the games but have the nerdy sports fan in mind with broadcasters and graphics.

I watch Dan LeBatard Is Highly Questionable because Gonzalo is my sports fan idol and I'll watch Around the Horn. I rarely watch ESPN outside of games. It's an echo chamber of loud noises like SportsTalk Radio. I prefer to watch things that make me laugh (TMZ, Adult Swim, Comedy Central) and reality competition shows (Survivor, Big Brother, Top Chef, and so on).

Those ESPN shows would be background for me, as well.

If it came down to actually watching one of their shows or reading an in-depth nerdy blog, I'd read the blog.

People who don't understand the value of DVR: Usually either the noon Sunday game or the afternoon NFL game will have 2 games on at the same time. I can't really watch both at the same time but often flip back and forth. DVR is useful if I miss a big play and wish to rewind and watch it.

And I didn't mean I watch almost all the DVRs. I watch basically every game live. DVR is just backup, and it's helpful for citing ref riggage if you are arguing with someone.

But wrt like any kind of "analysis" to be had on ESPN.... I don't think it's necessary when you watch all the games and can usually figure out on your own what went wrong or right. At least, whatever you will learn isn't worth having to listen to Mark Schlereth or whoever the hell they employ anymore. Though I did appreciate them showing how Harrison and Polamalu were in limbo much of the TEBOW game. That is helpful and if they show stuff like that more often I'd watch it. But TO doing sit-ups out in his driveway is just too damn good a story I guess.

baseball it's horrible and i would never DVR a baseball game. there's 162 games. i would also never DVR a football game because i can't imagine i wouldn't get spoiled somehow. but it's easy for me to DVR a hockey game and go out to bars and stuff because i'll never see scores or highlights on lolESPN, so i can see the game unspoiled.

Weird, I have DVRed all sports and unless it's a major sporting event like a golf major or playoff game I much prefer to watch them that way. Baseball can be tricky because there's like 15-20 seconds of downtime followed by three seconds of action and every fifth or sixth pitch or whatever something happens but football and basketball are both very easy to manage with a DVR. I used to have a DVR (ReplayTV™) that had a thirty second jump button which was absolutely perfect for football, since aside from no-huddle situations that's almost exactly the length of time between plays.

Anyway, baffled by people who don't DVR sports, my watching and efficiency of watching the games (and thus my enjoyment) has improved tremendously over the years because of them.

I do this a ton during the playoffs. But I only rewatch about 30-50games during the reg season.

Pedro Gomez was awful. He really drew out that sign off to the point of it being life-tilting.

Gomez was the dedicated Bonds reporter and that fat ginger lady was the dedicated Kobe reporter for months out in Colorado.

There will always be a backlash against this type of stuff from somewhere. What needs to happen is for the technology to change so people can add/remove whatever augmented reality they like for a game with whatever stats/overlays they want. I think it might not be too far away (they're already working on things like busting out your phone at the stadium, pointing it at the field, and having the yellow first down line show up on your screen)

Basketball is the goat dvr sport I think. lol free throws

Football is annoying because I try and fast forward between plays and it is always a failfest.

AT&T just changed their DVR fast forward settings to where the first 4 arrows are too slow and the highest setting is 5 arrows which is way too fast. Then there's the whole auto backtracking it does when you hit play. Tilting. Good for TV shows where you can't hit play until you see the show come back on (and it's slightly too late) but bad for football when you can see them walking to the line and go ahead and hit play and it goes back 5 or 10 seconds.

Damn my problems are very white.

I mean, what else is there to watch for non-in-game sports? It's true for me in that sense, but it's also true that I never watch ESPN unless I'm somewhere with no better options.
