Those other beers are gross anyway.

Also did PBR ever actually win a blue ribbon? Or are they being ironic?

When you account for inflation blue ribbons were probably worth a lot back then.

TSC has always been one of the funniest guys on this site. Everyone knows that. He has enough posts now that we may be able to compile a top 10 list.

Not interested in ranking every beer I like. Nor am I saying MGD (for example) is some great beer. But PBR is legit awful and at least MGD is drinkable.

yeah i wasn't asking about ranking, was just asking if you liked other beers. because it seems like approximately 100% of people who would say PBR is grosser than Bud (or make a judgment either way) wouldn't like craft/micro/whatever

I like beer, and especially good beer, and I think the difference between mgd or bud and pbr is irrelevant.

Anyway.....

Anyone who has grown accustomed to quality beer would agree. It would be like a little kid arguing that 1 flavor of koolaid is vastly superior to another. If an adult (who, presumably owns an adult palette) were to try koolaid they'd basically spit it out and be like "this is all ass."

Like I don't even think my taste buds could differentiate between which low end beer is better than the other. And I'm not even close to a beer snob. That doesn't mean I wouldn't drink it. It's still beer. But as I get further on the wrong side of 30 I prefer higher ABVs so I'm not pissing every 14 minutes.

i think miller lite is by far the worst. coors is ok to drink but it makes me piss a ton. i think pbr is the best of the bunch but there could be nostalgia factor in there from before it was hip and was the cheapest in town.

nowadays, i am a beer snob and wont touch any of that crap.

Miller does not make any drinkable beers IMO. You would be surprised how popular PBR is in Portland, it's by far the most stocked beer.

Seems like a perfect beer to stock, for all the hipsters who move to Portland and are desperately trying to look cool, and then again for the same people when they haven't found work in three months and it's all they can afford.

1) She's old as dirt and the voice problem is due to a stroke she had in 92.
2) She just took a ton of time off because her husband was having serious health issues.

I always struggled to listen to her show when I lived in Michigan, but Chicago doesn't even player afaict (chicago npr sucks balls, no talk of the nation either). I've been back in SEM for awhile though, and it's even worse.

The fact that PBR is popular at all is pretty amazing to me, though I love that it's hipsters that drink it. I mean I would pick Natty Light over PBR back in college if I was going cheap, PBR and Keystone light were really the absolute last resort for me. Just awful stuff.

wat

natty light, keystone and the beast are the three worst beers created by man

PBR and Budweiser are tiny steps above those

Doesn't Miller own Leinenkugel now? I like a lot of their stuff. Though I guess buying out a small brewery isn't exactly "making" the beer.

Speaking of low end brew, back in college I went to a Halloween party as a white trash guy. Shaved my red beard into a Joe Dirtesque pattern, put on my t-shirt that had black shoe polish stains, folded up an Auto Trader mag and stuffed it in my back pocket, wore an old pair of tight ripped up jeans that barely fit me. Wore a trucker hat I got from my gf's dad (this was still years before Kutcher popularized them) and topped it off by getting a 6 pack of Schlitz 16 oz cans and dangling the sixer from my belt once I removed the first can from the plastic thing. Was actually pretty sweet to be ably to carry around 6 beers like that and just pull one off whenever I was ready. I thought walking around and bumping into people would knock the beers off the plastic thing but it didn't.

Host's wife hadn't met me before so I pretended to just be a legit redneck and I apologized for not having time to dress up for Halloween and just kept saying things like "Yeah I'm workin' for the city, trying to put a little change in my pocket" and other various lines from movies like Dazed and Confused. She was like "So how do you know Steve?" and I'm pretty sure I said I fixed his carburetor once or some nonsense.
