RE video game draft

Forcing people to draft games that belong in eras they aren't familiar with is gonna lead to sucky writeups.

with my 7th pick i'm taking [redacted great classic game on the SNES]. Apparently it's good, I wouldn't know since I never owned a SNES, but here's a link to a positive review of it.

I dont think recency bias is going to be a problem, gaming nostalgia is powerful. For evidence, go look at the Skyrim thread.

No one's forcing anyone to enter this draft either. I am forcing people to make some kind of balance though. Maybe they would try and make balanced teams otherwise but let's not take the chance.

If you want to make the best team possible then join if not follow along or post in the video game forum.

The Gastineau thing is his NFL peak though. Was such a stupid argument. I liked how he said "he was wrong" then would turn around and say he was right. It was pretty epic at the time and though it was kind of annoying...it was ok.

He just became unbearable in the NFL threads towards the end there and it was unfortunate because there was a point where I did defend him/enjoy him as a poster. Meh, I'm sure he, TuT and greear10 are posting under some accounts on here somewhere.
Pretty sure his argument was that Moss was terrible and Brady made him great, which is an even further indication of his stupidity

Which are you leaning towards: categories arranged by system or year. My first thought is system >>>>> year

I don't want systems to be an issue. That's why I thought era's would be more appropriate. Years allows for newer consoles at the time to skew opinion too. Release dates definitely do matter but I want to keep how much they matter low.

That's why I wanted these as catergories.

SNES/Genesis
N64/PSX/Saturn
PS2/Cube/Xbox/DC
Wii/360/PS3
PC (starting in 1991)

Must select at least one from each. Eliminating NES/handhelds just eliminates the ability for people to criticize games they likely never played.

I think it would be more interesting if you gave extra points to each of the participants for maintaining internal consistency within an era or adjacent eras, sort of like how the conference draft did. Yeah you could pick teams from all over the country, but you'd get criticized for lacking cohesion. IN the games draft, you'd likely get a few teams competing over certain eras, which would lead to better write-ups as people would gravitate towards games they know best or at least towards unavoidable value.

Limiting you prsonal gaming options just for the sake of "cohesion" is not a good thing

Eliminating NES would be so bad. There are 7 or 8 games on there that, if they weren't allowed to be drafted, would make the draft a joke. Not to mention numerous other great games.

yeah we should do SE WW game #2, but with only SE regs this time. those POG guys are aight, i like 'em and some of them helped us wolves win, but it's not fun having experts (who i've never seen in SE) pwn us noobz.

(probably only saying this bc odds dictate i'll be villa next time, run the numbers BAS, lol)

I didn't like the POG regulars element to the game, but it's a very minor complaint in an otherwise fantastic experience.

Didn't realize how intense it would get.

it was a lot of fun. just replace the poggers with more SE luminaries and it'll be great

I'd be down to give it a shot if it was limited to SE regs.
