This man raped me last night:
I sat down at a 1-2 NL table at Mandalay Bay, and there was Jose Canseco. He’s quite a player. He limped UTG with 32o. He went all in for $80 with 83s on the button after three people limped. And so on.
He had already rebought once when I got AA in the BB. There was a raise and a couple of callers, including Jose on the button. I re-raised and only Jose called. The flop was 752 rainbow. I bet and he folded, saying “I have to put you on a set at that point.”
I got AA again the very next hand in the SB. This time I raised after a bunch of limpers. Jose and two others called. The flop was 984 rainbow. I bet $50, he went all in for $120 and I called. I showed my cards and he didn’t. The turn was an 8 and the river was a 9. I started counting out the $70 before he finished slow rolling his K9o.
One of my friends texted me saying, “At least you can say you got raped by Jose Canseco.”
Big deal. Lots of people can say that.
I figured that gave me a good opportunity to ask for a picture with him. But maybe 10 hands later, he managed to lose all of our money with A5 on an AJT7J board. He stormed off in a roid rage before I could ask for the photo.
No one at the table gave any indication that they knew they were in the presence of a legend, so when Jose left I asked if anyone realized who he was. No one did. I told them and none of them believed me until I googled a picture. The Aussie guy who was talking to Jose for two straight hours said, “Oh yeah, 100% that’s him. I could tell he wasn’t a normal person just looking at him, but I didn’t know it was Jose Canseco!”
