Other than the first three seasons of SP, I've liked it a lot. I haven't watched the Simpsons for probably a decade except for a few shows here and there. It seemed okay.

LOL wat? Season 2 had Underpants Gnomes and season 3 had the Succubus episode. Those are two of SP's best. I guess SP was just a big part of my childhood much like Simpsons/Seinfield were for the slightly older crowd around here.

S3 had Chinpokomon, right? That's a classic.

seasons 3-7 of The Simpsons were pretty GOAT. 2 was solid as well, and a few more from 8 on were pretty good and are very watchable, but the quality started to drop just about every season. but for about 4 years there it was some real quality that couldn't be touched (peaked in seasons 4-5, imo).

if you're so young that you missed it to this point, i'd recommend that you go back and check it out. definitely worthwhile.

lol, that sounds like it could be pretty funny. which ep was that? i should check it out.

generally agree on Family Guy, it's alright, has its moments, but it is what it is. and i find that i like SP when i watch it, but just never make a point to go out of my way to do so. maybe one day.

Since changing time zones means crossing state lines, the transport of alcohol alone would be enough be arrested in many places.

I think it was called 'Cartoon Wars'.

Also I'm one of the few people who thinks S1 clearly belongs in the "golden age" of the Simpsons, while S8 is where the show clearly starts becoming inconsistent.

I hear people say this all the time, but really they both suck. People just had a little time to get nostalgic about the first run fool themselves into thinking its better than it is.

Also, FG has to be the most over-syndicated show on TV. It first went into syndication with <50 episodes, those originals have been beaten to death.

I definitely don't agree with this. The original run of the show demonstrated real wit. The reboot reduced all the characters to punching-bag stereotypes and started substituting cutaways re-creating pop culture moments for actual jokes.

The reboot has had its moments. It just has too many meh moments. The problem with the first run though is that at least the first season the stuff with Stewy wanting to kill Lois, and really basic stuff with Brian isn't funny anymore, as it's just taken for granted about their character.

Seasons 2-5 or so of the Simpsons blows everything out of the water for its impact at the time. We take for granted making fun of the absurdity of suburban America now, but there really wasn't anything else on TV that was doing it before the Simpsons. Or at least coming close to nailing it like the Simpsons.

South Park wins for consistently good product throughout its run.

Not true, some states have different time zones within.

This is 100% correct. Deadwood gets overshadowed by the Wire in GOAT discussions, but I think the two shows are really close. Deadwood is ****ing great and should be watched by everybody

I was underwhelmed by Deadwood, seemed like too much of an exercise in dialogue rather than plot. Think I stopped watching somewhere in season 2

I can see that, I guess it's not for everyone. The plot can get a little convoluted and confusing, but Deadwood easily has the best acting, dialogue, and cinematography of any show I've ever seen.
