wat? pbal!

so what about the whole "there are a million awesome Mom & Pop pizza places in NYC that are better than anyone else in world" thing? you really go with chain pizza? idk about there obviously, but where i am basically all chain pizza is turrrrrible, and Dominoes is like the nut low of it.

actually Flying Wedge is a good chain, but they're just a small, local one.

unless i just got leveled, if so then wp i guess. but i wanted to talk about pizza anyway, so w/e.

because they are easy to make for any competent chef with a fryer?

LOL_LDO,
Probably not inspiration in the way you want, but a great "Chicken Soup for the Soul type Book" is "he Soul of Baseball: A Road Trip Through Buck O'Neil's America" by SE favorite Joe Posnanski.

well i won't say it was because of the animal hospital but i was a little suspicious which is why i never ate there. maybe it was great though. it seemed very popular.

edit: since this is the liveblog thread i’m also gonna provide a story about me never eating there. so a couple weeks after i moved there i was hungry and had previously noticed that it was a very popular takeout place located 2 or 3 minutes from my apartment. as i start walking up to the door i see it is packed, like 30-40 people inside at least. and as you can tell from the pic it’s not a large store.

as i start to open the door, every single one of those 30-40+ people inside immediately turns and starts to stare at me. maybe i was wrong but i took this as a sign to not open that door and lamely pretend that i was actually looking for the bank next door.

does this make me racist? and if so, how much?

It's hard to find a great pizza place most places in the South. You can find them but it isn't easy. Not like basically anywhere else in the country. I think Southerners are content with Pizza Hut.

I went to PF Chang's after having not been there in forever, **** is gross. I remember once upon a time I thought it was good. Then I ate actual good Chinese food. Definitely not returning.

Anthony Bourdain stopped at a lake trout place when did his Baltimore episode, and it was packed. Looked decent with hot sauce and mac & cheese/greens sides tbh.

Edit: PF Chang's=eating a plateful of salt.

Did you know that in 2008 Mcdonalds made as much as BK, KFC, Arby's, Taco Bell, Subway and Starbucks combined? That's WANGZ level dominance.

i know it doesn't seem like it could possibly happen, but people in nyc do occasionally venture outside nyc. they may have experience with chain pizza as a result.

as a kid, i would probably choose pizza hut over mom and pop pizza. i was a pretty dumb kid tho (also we didn't have pizza hut)
