silly as in needless. If you want to ban someone for doing that, then ban them, but theres no need to put a rule in place so that now people will go around pointing out statements that they think fit the rule and people should be banned for and start claiming double-standards, etc.

How are Jetto's posts any worse than game threads? Both are similar, but one takes up far more space.

It basically comes down to you guys claiming these posts are trolling, and we already have established precedent that you can ban someone for trolling. So there isn't a need for some new rule here, where all it does is open itself up to being exploited and double-standards.

What does he post that really detracts from your experience? What's the big deal? Why is this a mega issue? I really don't understand.

Yes, I realize this is your perspective. I'm just questioning why it is trolling, it just seems to be an awfully simplistic version of other posts, one that can easily be glossed over. From my experience, trolling is done to incite people, and I just don't see it in posts of that nature. How exactly do "obvious" statements get people angry?

Unless he actually is a gimmick, I don't see why Jetto would be banned when people like agdci, ColeW, etc. are still allowed to post every day in a way that is far worse to the forum as a whole.

i don't really care about jetto himself. he seems like a decent guy and he's very passionate about sports. that's totally fine. even though he has no insight and his posts are really boring to me, that's acceptable - i'd be a real douche if i thought he should be banned for being boring. my problem is when people quote his posts and start talking about how great jetto is or 'jetttooooo' or the like. which you and others did constantly in the yankees thread. it clutters up the thread with garbage and isn't funny or interesting. apparently this also happens in the NBA thread, which is why the jetto rule is being instituted. i'm not in favor of it being a 'rule', per se, but some people on this forum just cannot help themselves from being not clever.

So another poster who is passionate about sports, as you put it, should suffer as a result? Why not say something to those people?

Either way, I don't understand why those posts really bother you either. It's not like it's an epidemic of page after page. Where do you draw the line? Is a page full of GREEAAARRRs acceptable but JETTOOOOS not?

This entire thing just smacks of intellectual sports elitism, which is why I find it so bothersome.
