This is how I took it as well.
I think Assani is a great poster and have often been the one mod-warring on his behalf to not have him banned when others have argued for it. However, Assani has done his fair share of trolling these forums in his day, mostly in ways that I've personally found pretty entertaining, but still trolling. Often these have been very elaborate and long trolls. Because of this, I think when he makes an argument now that is off the beaten path, a lot of peoples first instinct is to think "lol, there goes assani again", no matter how elaborate his argument is. So in some ways he's become a victim of his own creativity.
