I had Joose on Friday night before going to The Happy Endings Bar. It was Frat tastic and awesome.

These pretty much sum up completely why I find this whole thing hilarious. At the end of the day, I don't really care as I rarely actually drank this stuff and it ldo is unhealthy for you overall, but so is a ton of other legal stuff that people consume on a daily basis.

Probably never. I mean, it would be hard to enforce, plus 1/3 to 1/2 a Red Bull is nowhere near the contents of a Four Loko.

I think this whole "manufacturing and marketing legal substitutes for illegal highs" is actually creating more dangerous products than the drugs they're trying to mimic. Seriously, cocaine is probably safer for you than Four Loko.

Agree with Nath 100% here. Whoever created Four Loko is a mad scientist.

seems like an unfair comparison. isn't one can of four loko the equivalent of 4-5 standard alcoholic drinks?

When I pull out up front, you see the Benz on dubs
When I roll 20 deep, it's 20 knives in the club
*****s heard I **** with Dre, now they wanna show me love
When you sell like Eminem, and the hoes they wanna ****
But homie ain't nothing change hold down, G's up
I see Xzibit in the Cutt that ***** roll that weed up
If you watch how I move you'll mistake me for a playa or pimp
Been hit wit a few shells but I dont walk wit a limp
In the hood then the ladies saying "50 you hot"
They like me, I want them to love me like they love 'Pac
But holla in New York them *****s'll tell ya im four loko
And the plan is to put the rap game in a choke hold
I'm feelin' focused man, my money on my mind
I got a mill out the deal and I'm still on the grind
Now shawty said she feeling my style, she feeling my flow
Her girlfriend wanna get bi and they ready to go

This anti-Loko/Joose movement might hurt La Crosse's economy, eh MEb?

Yeah, it is. But I also think if you could only order Four Loko 5 oz. at a time in a bar, it would be fine. The fact that it only comes in giant, non-resealable cans contributes equally to the problem, especially among inexperienced college kids who think they're having "one drink".

possible but unlikely. They brew a ton of other stuff here too. If Icing bros ever becomes illegal then the brewery might take a hit.

Yeah the real problem is that it's presumably tasty and the sorostitutes will guzzle it down like it's Kool-Aid and then BAM, 32 ounces of 12% alcohol will render them incomprehensible, yet still alert enough to do something ******ed like drive through T intersections right into a tree without slowing down. It's like a perfect storm of novice drinker and beverage, and it's likely to end up the gun control fight on the alcohol front, i.e. Four Loko doesn't kill people, people kill people.

The funniest part of this issue is I don't recall any stories of things like this happening. Just some college kids got "sick" off of it. Usually there's at least a death or two to cause this sort of media backlash.

Thankfully, Needle has 2p2 to come to instead of driving through said intersection.

I'm just hoping to avoid a lawsuit when some 2+2er does something idiotic on the Four Loko and they link me back as the cause of popularizing it to said poster.

i used to get wasted on 24 oz cans of steel reserve all the time when i was a teenager (they were like $1.50 at the local beer/wine shop that didn't card). i don't really see much of a difference.

the media just likes to flip out about stupid ****.

on a per OZ basis there isn't really much comparison between the ass-beer of your youth and crack-in-a-can like 4 Loko.

What does Steel Reserve top out at? Prob not as high as Four Loko (although it may be close, I forget). It also doesn't come packed with an absurd amount of uppers.

What really bothers me in all of this isn't the "oh, think of the children" argument; it's that there are perfectly good drugs out there already to create the effects these kids are looking for, whose effects positive and negative have been proven over time, without having to resort to dangerous new chemical combinations.

steel reserve is 8% abv. so 1 can of four loko = 1.5 cans of steel. not really that much different.

i'm with you here but coke ain't getting legalized any time soon.

edit: i've also more recently had dogfish head 120 minute ipa which is 18% abv in a 12 oz bottle that can't be resealed. hopefully this gets banned next.

24 oz. of 8% is like 3 beers. Even if you did pound one, 3 beers < 5 beers, plus it's just alcohol, not pumped with sugar and caffeine and other weird chemicals.

Of course not, but these kids need to learn some ****ing savvy and figure out how to score some.

That stuff is like $8 a bottle. No college kid is going out and buying one to get ****ed up.
