FWIW I liked it a TON more the second time I saw it.

Just saw someone outside the SBA here at PSU that personifies the "everyday I'm hustlin" line. It was some dude who has MS (I think), who was driving his chair and selling cups of coffee at the same time. If I didn't already have a drink, I would have bought one just because his swag was unreal.

yeah definitely possible. I was pretty meh on it, which could be because I was drunk when I first watched it. However, just about everyone I know IRL and here loved it, so I thought I should give it another try. Watched it again, drunk again, but this time I enjoyed it a ton. The scene with the midget is in particular, amazing.

iirc, the whole fight in the trailer (with the pig) was terrible...and am pretty sure it fell of a little after that.

Still had some good to great LOL moments after that, just the storyline fell off and didnt feel as fresh as the rest of the movie.

Its almost like they were on a deadline to finish the movie (broken lizard cew), took a lifetime of getting high and drunk and ****ing around to come up with the masterpiece that is the first half of the movie, then said...quick, how do we finish this now?

regardless, I thought that fight scene in the trailer was less than great...and the last quarter of the movie couldve been better. FTR, i still think it was good, just dont think it lived upto the greatness of the rest of the film.

I could be misplacing the trailer fight scene later than it actually is in the movie...but iirc, the last ~quarter or so of the movie (trailer fight scene or no trailer fight scene) didnt live upto the my expectations. (the whole sting operation near the end was meh)

what are your thoughts on the trailer fight scene between the supertroopers and the real cops? do u think the whole movie was perfect? dont you think the movie started dipping in quality (and lulzz) as it went on? (<<<which is my main gripe)

All this movie talk lead to me watching Millers Crossing again tonight. That film is seriously underrated in the pantheon of gangster movies.

Awesome movie. It isn't a conventional gangster movie, nothing like it has been made before or since afaik, which is why it gets left out of the pantheon. More lampooning the genre than anything. Coen bros walk the line between earnestness and parody pretty tight.

Imo, Original Matrix is now underrated because of the 2nd and especially third and that people don't remember how mindblowing it was.

and there are far better examples of comedies getting lame, boring, and unfunny in the 2nd half, take a garbage dump like the 2nd half of Wedding Crashers for example (and they even stretch into 2 hours? gmafb!).
