Meh I definitely understand where they are coming from. A lot of threads pop up that you have no interest in can be kind of annoying. But its not like the world cup is every other month, its once every 4 years.

All that it means is that there can be no complaining about the NFL divisional threads when they come back,

The only remotely aggravating thing about the threads is that since they all have polls it's marginally harder to quickly find a thread I'm looking for. Thread icons are usually helpful in this regard. But not when they're all the same.

Other than that people are obviously bitching just to bitch. And calling it a "minor sport", ouch imo.

I don't know what was planned, just throwing my 2 cents in. The WC and US thread really has no place anymore since there are specific WC threads where the discussion will/should be.

There is obvious clutter with these type of events, but there is no point to have unneeded clutter that splinters the discussion.

yeah I think the general WC and the US WC thread were meant to be places where people could post w/o the trolling. The group threads are mostly in game posting and trolling. I for one would prefer to not have to post non trolling things about the US in the group C thread

plus it'll just shift from day to day. like say teams from Groups A & B are playing, those threads will be busy and the others probably not. then the next day Groups B & C or D, and so on...

I still don't see how it is good to splinter discussion. "Group threads are just for trolling and game days" makes little sense. What is the advantage to having the same conversations going on in two threads?

Having the Mega WC thread doesn't add anything to discussion that couldn't take place in group specific/knockout stage threads. All it does it hurt the group threads.

All of this added in with the fact that there is 59 soccer threads makes it a head scratcher to keep threads open that not only are there no use for, they hurt the discussion overall by splintering it.
