If two posters make a wager in a thread, and do not ask for any mod oversight or participation, can mods kindly stay the **** out of it and not try to encourage people to break their wager because they think their opinion matters more since their name is green.

Your opinion is one thing, you trying to make it seem OK to break bets (and doing it multiple times) because you are a mod and say so is not.

I have made two bets with posters in the epl thread where if I won they can't post in the thread for a year, and if they won the bet I can't post in the thread for the year.

Seth has made multiple posts about how he will not enforce the bets (when he was never asked to) and how he has no problem with posters who lose the bets welching on them. He is basically encouraging people to break the bets and has done it multiple times (not just one post with the mod stance).

Basically he doesn't like the bets, which is fine since that is his opinion. What he doesn't realize is that his opinion means nothing more than anyone else's and when he using his lil green name to try and push his opinion on an agreed upon bet he is overstepping his bounds.

I don't think seth should be responsible to enforce them, but those posters should definitely honor the bet if they lose. When we had the GREEAR!! vs zugzwang 1 month selfban from SE showdown over the Suns game I would ban zug for breaking it, so I think any SE mod should feel free to ban a poster for breaking this as well, but not be obligated to.

It's a ******ed bet that makes all the participants in the thread worse off.

Which is your opinion, which I kindly don't give a **** about.

Again, your opinion matters no more than anyone else's since no one expects or acts you to participate in the honoring of the bet. Your blatant attempts to make it seem OK to not honor the bet is a joke. You are encouraging the breaking of the bet, and you know that is exactly what you are trying to do.

Saying the bet is ******ed is fine, saying it's fine for them to not honor it is ludicrous.

Let's put it this way, we wouldn't allow a "killself" bet, so it's all a matter of degrees. I feel like a month is a reasonable (though excessive) time period. A year is not.

Multiple posters have complained to me both privately and in the thread that this type of bet is bad for the discussion. Also, I'm taking into account that especially WRT this bet, the teams involved don't have a huge following in the thread, and it would make us all worse off to not have more non-Big 4 (3? Lolpool...) supporters in the thread.

Nope. You are encouraging the bet to not be honored. You have made multiple posts encouraging it. You are posting IN THIS THREAD that you think they are unreasonable terms.

You are using your status as mod of the thread to make it seem OK to break the bet. Again, it was made clear a month ago that no one expected you to have ANY part in these bets, and yet you make the same post about how as far as you are concerned it's ok for them to come back.

You are wrong, out of line, and overstepping your bounds while trying to hide behind a thin gray line of semantics.

Were the 2 bets just made recently? Or did the year-long ban for the loser start already?

Is it overstepping my bounds when multiple posters are asking me to put a stop to these kinds of bets?

One has already occurred and the loser (who is a really good poster, for the record) has already said he won't post in next season's thread.

One was made a couple weeks ago. Think it was originally meant that the loser wouldn't post in the EPL thread next season, but it was reduced to 1-month (I think). So it starts next fall, when the season does.

The new one is for a game tomorrow, is it a year or a month? Also for next season?
