Thanks for this, I've been wondering about that guy. I recently discovered his podcast and knew he was a comic from the Man Show days, but he isn't particularly funny on the podcast so I wasn't sure. He does a good interview though. Most comics-turned-podcasters have that annoying habit of talking all over their guests and trying too hard to be funny and making it about them instead of their guests (Mohr does this a LOT and Maron is getting better but still does sometimes) so I'm a permafan of his cast. Need to see if the tour comes to FL anytime soon.

I wrote something recently comparing comedy to sales. If anyone is interested in reading it, I'll link it.

That mechanic guy I mentioned before talked me out of buying a Volvo once because of this. Yeah they're great cars he said but sooner or later something on it will break and you'll pay 1.5x - 2x more for parts because it's a Volvo.

Rogan doesn't make it about himself because he's egoless from all the ayahuasca. RE-SPEK

I saw Rogan years ago in Vegas. It was mostly him drinking a ton of shots and doing crowd work targeted at UFC fighters in the audience (there was a PPV the next day IIRC.)

Fun for fans of Rogan/UFC but it would have probably pretty underwhelming to anyone not already familiar with him.

Ya Cald saying that his set killed is the most surprising thing posted in SE (within the context of who posted it) that I can remember.

His podcast can be very interesting (guest dependent) but his standup has always seemed like freshman level philosophical stoner riffing. How we couldn't remake the phones we use if we were stuck on an island, or that towns are when stupid people gave up migrating and just started ****ing - not bad premises but not presented with any humorous punchline.

It's also quite astounding how few quick witted things he says on his pod, Brendan Schaub has better comic timing and one liners.

Speaking of comics, does anyone here like Kevin Hart, and can you explain it to me? I tried his new Netflix Special and it was this huge stadium full of people to see him. I don't think I laughed once, and he'd be talking and I *assumed* building to a punchline when they'd switch to a crowdshot of people laughing hysterically like they were wetting their pants and vomiting and gouging out their own eyeballs and ****. It was just weird.

I played basketball with Kevin Hart and he was funny on the court, not because he was cracking jokes but because his tone of voice when he barks at his teammates is just funny. He was also a nice dude.

I don't, to be honest, enjoy his stand-up that much, but it seems to me to be more character driven than wit driven and that's less my cup of tea than dry sarcasm or self-amused NORM stuff or whatever.

He definitely hits the real from time to time.

I tried listening to Rogan's podcast. Complete pseudo intellectual nonsense. Guy is a lock to be brain damaged by psychedelics and whatever supplements he peddles. Granted I haven't seen his standup and only listened to a couple podcasts before I wanted to blow my brains out, so small sample size but seems pretty unlikely he's good at anything besides parroting bro science and shepherding his sheep followers.

Am I dropping truth bombs or is this a historically wrong take and should I give it another shot?

I don't think anyone is too far off on Rogan but he was funny last night and the set had great energy. He had a special on Netflix that was ok, last night was much better.

Well, I can't speak for all his casts, but his interviews with Sam Harris and Leah Remini were particularly good IMO, though the Harris interview was absurdly long (4 1/2 hours)

I got a thing in the mail from Hard Rock Hollywood (FL) for 2 free tickets to Seinfeld's show there like a year or so ago. I was shocked he was doing that venue, it just seems idk small for a comedian of his stature?

Anyway I didn't go.
