Just started watching snooker this week. Not quite sure why but I was really rooting for Ding. Sad that he couldn't pull it out.

Amazing stat on the beeb: Higgins's 141 is the (joint) highest break in a WC final. Would have thought higher than that.

Surprised anyone is rooting for Higgins after that match fixing video, unless I missed something that showed he was totally innocent.

Pretty remarkable that if Higgins wins this a Scottish player will have won 13 of the last 27 World Championships.

Not when Hendry and he would have 12 of them between them.

Higgins looking good, Selby look shook.

Everyone seems to have accepted the 'I was afraid so I played along, but never intended to go through with it' defense and moved on. I've just gone back and read the original NotW story and I don't buy it at all. Man's a knob.

Selby is hard to get excited about as a personality but he plays some great stuff and he isn't a crook.

Wasn't there something about Higgins dropping frames on purpose?

Also something linking his betfair account and him trying to bet he lost a game?

Again, **** him the cheating bastard that he is.

Go Selby!

Yeah I would've wanted Selby to lose against anyone but Higgins (apart from Ebdon, although he's never getting this far again thank god).

Ebdon was the worst. Man, he use to annoying the life out of me. Thankfully he's finished.

Marty, I'm sure that was all hearsay from that dude that liked to make up **** to sell stories.

Mean he was clearly going to take the money so I completely agree feck him but selby just bores me so Higgins gets the edge.

They're sportsmen (OK I understand they don't break into a sweat that often) they're not entertainers there to keep people amused and glued to the TV.
Ebdon had a tactic of grinding and taking his time and put it to good use against the right opponent. That was his gameplay and he didn't care whether it kept the viewers happy as long as it helped him win money.

I just don't see the similarity between a player like Ebdon and Selby?

I don't have to enjoy Ebdon boring the arse of me and I never said they are same type of players.

Ebdon did what he needed to do to win but players ARE entertainers- if everyone played like Ebdon, he could win ten world championships in a row and not make any money because no one would pay to watch. So in a way he was leeching off players that people actually find it worth spending their money on.

Agree that I don't see the Ebdon-Selby comps

I get that you didn't compare and I don't mean to 'pick' on you, but the general feeling of the thread is that Selby is a boring player just like Ebdon was.

I agree that Selby is not one of the most exciting player to watch but I don't think he can be compared to being as bad as Ebdon was.

TBH I quite like the mix of playing styles that individuals bring to the game.
