Yea covid tourneys, they played everything in MK (?)

Guess no comeback for Higgins. Some earlier frame he got an awful cannon to lose the frame, think woulda been one back then. But not a big if with this score-line. And Brecel did have poor run of ball in the uk final (zhao did play great and was a joy to watch).

Frames 5 and 6 were key to the match IMO. Higgins won frame 4 91-0 and in frame 5 he was building a solid break but missed a red 90% pot chance to middle pocket. After Brecel built the lead to 61-21, Higgins had a desperate red potting chance, but failed and Brecel closed the frame out with a red+black.

In Frame 6 Brecel made some solid quality pots after 2 of Higgins' safeties did not work out to hold on 59-56.

After frame 6 Higgins was down 1-5 in a best of 17, and it was probably too much to rally back from. Brecel played solid and certainly deserved the win.

I read Emirates Arena in Glasgow had a problem with BetVictor, the sponsor. So WST had to find a replacement location quickly and fell back on the familar Venue Cymru in Wales.

Grand Prix final between O'Sullivan and Robertson tied 4-4 at intermission.

Robertson was on break and ahead 66-25 with 1 red remaining. He made IMO a big tactical error by trying to pot the last red in the right corner. The red was about a foot from the pocket and resting on the top cushion, certainly less than a 50% chance. Needless to say he missed it, and O'Sullivan proceeded to play the best snooker/safety shots I've seen since Trump beat Robertson in a similar circumstance a couple years ago. If Robertson instead plays a safety and gets the cue ball far away from the red he almost certainly wins the frame and goes up 5-3.

Quite a match going on. Robertson wins first 2 of evening session to go up 7-5, then O'Sullivan storms back to win 4 straight to go up 9-7. Robertson easily wins frame 17 to make it 9-8. My money is on O'Sullivan to win it.

Wow, Robertson chokes a gimme. O'Sullivan should close this out 10-8. Robertson paid the price for that aggressive play in frame 8 when a safety was all he needed.

Another epic O'Sullivan-Robertson match today in the Tour Championship semi. Ronnie had 5 centuries in the match, and he regained the lead 9-8 after being down 6-8 earlier. But in the final frame a key miss on a difficult black on the bottom rail got Neil back to the table, where he proceeded to begin a game-ending break including potting the black from virtually the same position.

These guys are all class, the match today was probably the best snooker I have ever seen played. I'm rooting for Brecel over Higgins in the other semi. Luca plays very tactically, and he is my long shot pick for the World Championship in a few weeks.

In the final frame, Higgins misses an absolute gimmie red to put Robertson in command. Down 4-9 at one point, Robertson takes the final frame and wins the Tour Championship.

Higgins does have a history of fixing matches, but that was long ago.

Robertson, O'Sullivan, and Higgins have to be the top 3 for the World Championship. Trump, Williams, Brecel, and Selby after that.

Semis underway, who do you got? I bet on Williams @33 to win it, thought it was strangely good value. Thought he was at least 50-50 vs trump, but oh boy what a collapse. And gotta give it to Judd, raised his game and bossed mark, as hendry put it. Just hoping for a classic in Ronnie vs Higgins match. Entertain us seniors!

Williams @33 was surely after the first session when he was 7-1 down?

Assuming Trump and O'Sullivan make it to the final, I doubt Trump has the mental fortitude to withstand the ebbs and flows of a 35 frame match. O'Sullivan has shown he is still on top of his game this season, with some incredible matches against Robertson, who has been playing like a stout #1.

I anticipate Trump will be slightly favored, but I got O'Sullivan.

Williams v O'Sullivan would be interesting. There is no love lost between these two, as Ronnie's bantering have set off Williams more than once. O'Sullivan would be around -240, but if Williams gets hot he could steamroll the match. I'd go with Williams for value here.

Mark I think has a brutal h2h vs Ronnie, kinda strange as always thought Mark is a great competitor and rises to the occasion. Always love Williams but vs Ronnie I would be sadly pessimistic.

It's cliche, but the only person beating Ronnie this tournament is himself.

Tough to disagree with the way he is playing. But Higgins would be close if hadnt made a few mistakes. And peak Higgins A-game can beat Ronnie, just so complete.

Trump gets a century and rare 151-0, but is still down 13-17. Needs to win 4 straight.

Congrats to Ronnie, of course, but for me the most interesting thing was that 3 of the 4 semi-finalists turned pro 30 years ago. Not sure what that says about the more recent players or about the career of a professional snooker player.

Had I bet at the beginning, I would have gone for Mark Williams - he seemed the most on form player at the time. I was pulling for Ding, but something has happened to him. I also would have seen Vafaei make it to the next round, but he doesn't quite have it, yet, but he will, I think.
