Is Skip Bayless the Greatest Of All Time? Is Skip Bayless the Greatest Of All Time?

Hadn't seen the whole interview up until just now, and wow, wtf. Dick is a great CB but he could not have come off as more of a pompous arrogant Dick. It's pretty telling when you manage to make Skip Bayless look like a rational reasonable human being, and I've got to give Skip respect for rolling with every single punch that Dick threw at him

Feel pretty confident we will see Dick skyrocket to the top of NFL's most hated players

What's crazy is that large majority of the comments on youtube and the like are in Sherman's favor. I realize that Skip is a polarizing figure, but Jesus, how hard is it be mildly objective?

It's not just youtube. It's on every site I've been to (and I went to quite a few while initially searching for the full video).

i was watching this live, and after that video above they went to commercial, i thought for sure they were going to move on to something else and get sherman off the show after he went on that rant.

but after the break he was totally relaxed and gave props to the 49ers, kaep, arodg etc. that wont get mentioned anywhere, though.

The guy plays football for a living, if he can't handle a live national audience he should get a different profession.

+1 to sherm not looking the best here.

Sherman wow not a good look. SAS closing his eyes and cringing every time Sherman went at Skip unprovoked mirrored my reaction.

They opened First Take talking about DeAndre Jordan's monster dunk. Tim Legler started by rating it a 10. Then it was time for Skip's rating. I figured he'd troll it up and rate it a 9 with an explanation of why he couldn't give it a 10.

He said he can't go higher than a 6.

The look on Tank Johnson's face when Skip and Steven A were ranting about Favre was priceless. LOL.

the only thing sadder than skip's blatant trolling would be if he actually believed the words that came out of his mouth

This quote from the comments in the link is pure gold and basically sums up Skip Bayless in a nut shell for me:

Quote:
He's hated because his opinions are stupid, ill-informed, invariably wrong, and clearly come out of his personal agenda rather than any real connection with sports. The fact that these opinions are expressed obnoxiously and aggressively is just the icing on the cake.

I don't get hate for Skip. If you don't like him, why are you watching the show? He's hilarious at times. But Skip never personally attacks someone's character. Even when Sherman was going nuts and attacking Skip, he didn't bite. But he makes money getting his haters to tune in so whatever works.

He's hated because of [url=http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/skip-bayless-espn2-first-take-co-host-may-be-the-most-hated-man-in-sports/2013/09/13/c001a7c2-170a-11e3-804b-d3a1a3a18f2c_story.html]this[/this]: "He’s created a reality in which he’s always right, and his narrative is always gospel. [...] He swears, 'from the bottom of my soul and my heart,' that he’s not playing a character and he’s not arguing for the sake of arguing. 'That would be against my constitution, against my religion, against who I am,' he says. [...] 'he’s 62 years old'"

People who are a combination of consistently wrong and equally consistently stubborn ought to be hated.

But that's his schick. Do you realize he said what he said in that article to get the haters even more furious and they will tune in next week. He plays a character on TV.

Watch 1st Take when Skip and Steven A are off. Its the most bland boring TV you can imagine. When it is an important topic like racism involving Riley Cooper, Skip is respectful and thoughtful. Like I said, if people hate him they shouldn't watch him. Because that's exactly what he's trying to get you to do. And judging money/ratings, it works.

Skip is the ultimate villain. His character is so airtight you're almost convinced that he's being honest with his assertions.

from that article.

Quote:
The Chinese food deliveryman lights up when he sees Skip Bayless answer the door. “I thought it was you,” he says with a smile, handing over dinner.

Bayless is a regular customer. At his core, he’s a man of routine, and at the beginning of each week, he orders five days’ worth of chicken and broccoli (no sauce), his nightly dinners.
Like, expert level customer guessing skills on display there.

I enjoy around the horn and PTI on occasion (even though kornheiser and wilbon are the equivalent of my dad if he was forced to watch sports 24-7, not good) because they actually try and form rationale arguments. Whether Skip believes what he says or not is irrelevant. Anybody who has a reasonable IQ should find that show a complete waste of time. I think about 80% of the time he doesn't believe what hes saying but wrt to Tebow and Lebron I do think he believes. He would probably say far nastier things about those 2 specific situations if given the right forum. The only people who can watch that show must be 22 year olds who don't have day jobs and enjoy sports....cause thats about the age at which I realized I couldn't handle that drivel anymore. Stephen A Smith might be even worse.
