I think what bothers people is that the SEC was awful in 2004 and 2005 but since they were good in 2006 and 2007 SEC homers are acting like they are on another level than the other conferences. In 2004 when the SEC was down, the "but our conference schedule!!!" line was a completely invalid excuse. Did LSU know the SEC was going to have two other very good teams when they scheduled crap this year?

OP would have a point if he had evidence that SEC teams were undeservedly going to BCS bowls. But getting your panties in a knot because fans and/or the media allegedly overrate middle-of-the-pack SEC teams seems a little much.

Best for more than 2 years? No. Far and away the best? Definitely not. By far the weakest OOC? Fact.

I think a big reason for the interconference rivalries is it is a surrogate for regional rivalries: the whole Red State-Blue State, Nascar-Hockey thing. Southerners can get annoyed with Northerners sometimes and vice versa.

The problem is your taking shots at the media's perception of the SEC, not the faans on the forum.
