Sounds like a done deal. What a power move. SEC TV revenue is going to be insane.

College sports going to go through a crapload of change in this next little bit with another big round of realignment, NIL stuff and potentially movement away from the NCAA.

Also, as a Missouri fan, lol at all the Texas/OU butthurt when Mizzou and A&M left to now follow them. Love it.

Also, LOL @ Drinkwitz's question to the SEC commissioner if horns down would be a penalty. <3

Wondering who gets left out if this becomes musical chairs to 16 team conferences??

Oklahoma and Texas make SEC 16
Okie state, TCU, Baylor and Texas Tech?? to Pac-16
WVU to ACC with one of Kansas or Kansas state for ACC 16

Would the Big 10 take Iowa State and one of Kansas or Kansas State? for a 16 team conference...

The teams that will benefit the most will be the mid-lower tier SEC schools. If TCU, OK State, Baylor, Texas Tech type schools get left out then the mid tier SEC schools will scoop up the good recruits that used to go to those schools.

You have to think the ACC would want to go after Notre Dame. WVU would make the most sense for team 16.

There was talk on ESPNU radio this morning that the best move for USC would be to go independent. BYU should be at the top of the list for the Pac 12. OK State, Texas Tech, TCU and Baylor don't add much to the Pac 12. You are talking about two small private schools with a limited alumni and two public schools in the middle of nowhere who are secondary to OU and many Texas schools.

Iowa St to Big 10 makes sense. Not sure how they fit academically which is a dumb argument because we are talking about sports conferences not quiz bowl. I'd go after Notre Dame but Kansas is probably the most realistic option.

There are going to be some schools left out. I wonder if we could see some schools get replaced?

The A&M meltdown from this is pretty hilarious. The negotiations had been going on for over 6 months and A&M was completely left out of the talks. They are the ones that broke the story in hopes of trying to sabotage the deal.

I hope it happens. That would be an awesome conference.

Kansas is meeting with the Big 10. Chip Brown, the long time Texas reporter, says it's a done deal.

I think it is great as an Arkansas fan. I hate both OU and Texas so it will make the conference more fun.

I guess I can believe KU to the B1G, but I'd be really skeptical that they'd take Iowa State. I know, Iowa and all that, but it doesn't add a TV market.

UT obviously brings up the SEC academic standards while OU brings them down, but who the **** would want KU? For the bball, maybe?

Auburn's football team is only 60% vaccinated, and here is what Bryan Harsin had to say on the matter:

Quote:
Has Harsin received the COVID-19 vaccine? He no commented that question, and also said he wasn’t going to discuss the vaccine with his team.

“It’s deeply personal for a lot of people,” Harsin said. “And so, that’s how we approach it: here’s the information, you make the decision.”

So I guess Auburn hired a complete ****ing moron?

Did they hire the NC State baseball coach to coach their football team? IIRC that was the same procedure that caused NC State to forfeit their way out of the College World Series.

As a Texas fan I'm pretty indifferent on moving to the SEC. I'm happy about getting more money and better games but it just seems wrong.

Having said that the aggy meltdown has been spectacular, even greater than I imagined it would be when I first heard about this. And they should be shitting themselves, as the #1 recruiting pitch they have had is "play in the SEC, not the big 12 dumpster fire"

The most awkward part of this for me going forward is figuring out how to argue the SEC is overrated while at the same time arguing Texas is not.

None of the decent SEC football schools having ****ing airports is a major problem. imo unless I make some bank and fly in private.

The Aggie meltdown has been spectacular. I must agree. Living in Houston, coworkers are in full "They can't do this", "There's no way the SEC wants them" (LOL). Aggies luckboxed Johnny Manziel and that brought them to their current situation. Texas and OU in the SEC would be fantastic.

Also a Texas fan here, I didn't really have a strong opinion either way but seeing how mad Aggie fans are getting about this makes me want them to move to the SEC now. And +1 to not giving a **** about conference pride, not gonna start rooting for Bama or Aggies or Tennessee just because Texas moves to the SEC.

Should probably nominate my thread to freezingcoldtakes at this point

If SEC moves to 9 game sched on top of this, it's just gonna be a bloodbath.

Gonna be interesting to see how they do the pods. Seems hard to do without a flex game which you can use as a de facto semifinal

excellent move by those commishes (was glad to see the new ACC commish being proactive). a 40 university voting block that will check the hegemony threatened by the SEC as the new collegiate landscape takes shape.
