I graduated from the University of Alabama and while I hate LSU, Tennessee, an Auburn, I'd cheer for them when the played out of conference games because its just good for the conference. If they win, good for the SEC. If they lose, then we can laugh at them as their rivals.

Example: I cheered and was rooting for Tenn during the game this past Monday, but am guilty of singing "**** YOU ROCKY TOP" afterwards.

I would maintain that the Pac-10 has among the best (Arizona, Arizona State, arguably USC depending on your taste) and the worst (Stanford, Berkeley).

SEC is pretty competitive top to bottom, Big-12 could put up a fight with Texas coming in at #1 in the country overall in my unbiased opinion, because I watch Texas games.

IMO Pac 10's fourth hottest school (Oregon? Wazzu? UCLA?) is hotter than at least one other conference's top school, ergo is on par with the top school in most conferences.

Just like in football, Stanford, Northwestern and Duke are all terrible.
You are lost son.

OU is the BCS beast of the conference. They will contend for the National Championship this year. Texas will have a hard time finishing 2nd in the South division.

1 game sample size makes Sagarin's predictor pretty much meaningless, especially considering the teams played but the Big 12 has 9 teams finishing in the top 35 in the predictor.

This isn't just a Texas conference anymore, Missouri and Kansas have made the North division more than respectable again, they have made the North tough. Nebraska is getting back on track, they have actually had the players and good recruiting classes, just the wrong coach w/ the wrong system. KState is another team that is getting back to respectable--they have routed Texas the last two years.

Texas Tech has the best player in the country with one of the best QB's in the country throwing to him. Now they actually have "some" defense that could make them a top 15ish team.

This is the best QB conference in the country.

Don't sleep on them anymore.

I'm sorry, but if you're an Alabama fan and you would cheer for Auburn in any way, shape or form, even if they were playing against the University of Satanism, then you have no spine and no right to call yourself an Alabama fan. You're an SEC fan. The only possible scenario is if an Auburn win means Alabama advances, whereas an Auburn loss means Alabama loses out. Like if Auburns opponent is in line for a spot in the SEC title game, unless they lose in which case Bama gets in. When Michigan felt it got robbed 2 years ago, the logical thing would be for MIchigan fans to support tOSU, to show that MIchigan indeed got robbed. But you know what? Most Michigan fans were happy the Buckeyes got thrashed in the title game. Maybe its a Southern solidarity thing. People from the South are often proud of their heritage, and want to show Southern Pride or something by beating teams from other parts of the country.

i root for big ten in out of conference games. its good for osu. i usually even root for michigan in conference. osu v mich is just such a sick game when both teams are highly rated.

also, michigan beat florida last year. suck it sec.

Agree w/ this. I hate the mentality--"death to conference rivals when they are playing Compton Community College!"

If you are a fan of Alabama you should want the SEC to win every non-conf game they play. It is also nice to beat an undefeated team, it vaults you in the standings.

I can understand wanting your big rival to be undefeated so you can crush their dreams. I remember when MInnesota beat #2 Ohio State in like 2000, and talked to some Michigan fans, expecting them to be happy. They were pissed, as they wanted to be the ones to crush OSUs dreams. That was back when Michigan used to own OSU and they could back up their smack talk. Maybe it's just different for me, being a Notre Dame fan. Michigan and USC are NDs biggest rivals, and I want both of those schools to get destroyed every time they play, even if it hurts NDs strength or schedule.

Why? Didnt LSU lose to a Arkansas team SC gorilla raped two years in a row? And Auburn before that? When was the last time USC lost by more than a score under Carroll?

Nobody denies that LSU/UGA/UF are good, the issue is how people are like "Well, yeah LSU scheduled 4 cupcakes, they HAVE TO PLAY THAT BRUTAL SEC SCHEDULE."

Also LOL that USC would be a 2 TD favorite over OSU on a neutral field when they were only a 2 TD favorite over Illinois at home. What's the line for next Saturday, like 5?

USC was slightly less than a 2TD favorite over Illinois

Technically they werent at home. Im guessing the line for the game is going to be in the USC -7 range

Are you saying @Auburn, @Florida, @South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, @Arkansas isn't brutal?

I'm going with that as more brutal than @USC, @Wisconsin, Purdue, Penn State, @Illinois, Michigan

At South Carolina and at Arkansas? Come on man, this is kind of the point. These games shouldn't even be an issue for LSU.

Easily SEC and it's not even close, do you guys not realize how big and easy those schools are to get into?
