Okay, I can't stand this anymore. Seriously. The SEC is good, I get it - but shut the hell up with every 30 seconds, 'WHAT A TACKLE! THAT'S SEC DEFENSE FOR YOU!' or 'YEAH! YOU CAN'T MAKE MISTAKES! THIS IS SEC FOOTBALL! EVERYBODY IS SO GOOD!'

We get that all you care about is football, and your fans have nothing to do but root for kids at colleges they didn't go to, and I will give you that the stadiums are very difficult to play in.

But come on... South Carolina is medicore and can't play offense, Vanderbilt is still Vanderbilt (by the way, check the posts - who is the guy who told you that they were going to be moderately reasonable this year??), Miss St is god awful, Kentucky is terrible, and LOL Tennessee... Tennessee went to the SEC championship last year and couldn't beat the 7th best team in the Pac-10 and lost to UCLA who had their top two quarterbacks, their top running back, their top receiver and their top tight end injured and is increidbly mediocre talent wise.

Akransas is a joke without McFadden and Jones and barely beat Western Illinois, and Auburn has a nice defense and some good RB's passes the ball less effectively than my high school football team. Ole Miss is medicore.

Florida is really sick, LSU is really good and underrated, Georgia is incredibly overrated but still good) and Bama is apparently good. (Florida and LSU > Georgia)

The SEC is good, fine - but the Pac-10 was better than the SEC last year and nobody heard 'LOOK AT HIM RUN THAT BALL! PAC TEN FOOTBALL! WOW THE PAC 10 IS SO GOOD!' every ten seconds.


This year the SEC is the best conference top to bottom, but it's not like it's a blowout. Eight out of the twelve teams are mediocre or worse... maybe seven.

Pac-10 only has TEN teams (a fact conveniently overlooked when all the stats about which conference sends the most players to the NFL, which conf. wins the most bowl games, etc.) and Oregon, ASU, Cal and apparently UCLA are just as good as any of these top to middle SEC teams. Even Arizona could probably hang with the middle, and Wazzu and Stanford suck but aren't any worse than Miss St/Kentucky/etc.

I bet Washington and Oregon State could beat either of these teams right now, and they are at the bottom of our conference.


I mean... the SEC is good, fine but please stop acting like every team in the SEC is better than every team in the country because of their conference affiliation.

What the hell is a 'rant'?

Until Dixon got hurt, Oregon was far and away the best team in the country... only reason they weren't ranked #1 is because of a ridiculous fluke loss to Cal.

USC was the best team in the country at the end of the season, although it's a shame we had to watch USC and LSU blow out slow, mediocre big-10 teams instead of getting to play each other.

Arizona State put up 10 wins and was ranked really high, but was somewhat overrated and got blown out by Texas.

Oregon State was among the most underrated teams in the country last year.

Cal, UCLA, Stanford, Arizona, and to a lesser extent, Washington were all talented enough to hang with anyone in the country.

The conference top to bottom only had one truly 'bad' team in Wazzu, which you can't really say of any other conference. When you only have ten teams, and four of them are ranked in the top 6 at some point throughout the season, and four other good teams, that's a pretty tough conference top to bottom.

You have to define the argument pretty well to even make a case, or else everyone is just making point and counterpoint (our bowl record is better, we won more BCS games, we have a better schedule, etc. etc.) but I think that the SEC and Pac-10 were head and shoulders above the rest last season, and that the SEC might have had more good teams but the Pac-10 had more really, really good teams, whereas this year I think that the SEC has more really, really good teams, but that the Pac-10 has more decent teams top to bottom.


Anyway, the point is that it's debatable whether the SEC was even the best conference this year, and even if you acknowledge that they are the best this year, it's marginal at best. And even then, it's cyclical - for example, a few years ago the Pac-10 was in the dumps and the Big Ten was the best conference.

...and my point is that given how debatable/marginal it is, I am sick of hearing how the SEC is like on another planet compared with everybody else, and hearing it every ten to twenty seconds.


It's like MAN... THOSE TEAMS THAT WEAR RED ARE SO MUCH BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE. USC, OHIO STATE AND GEORGIA ARE JUST DOMINANT. TEAMS THAT WEAR RED JUST HAVE TOO MUCH SPEED FOR TEAMS THAT DON'T WEAR RED. OH MAN, DID YOU SEE THAT PUNT? THAT WAS A PUNT FROM A GUY WEARING RED! Shut up already.

Who are you referencing? I don't see "everyone" doing what you say they are.

I don't follow college ball all that much, but even I get sick of hearing how the SEC is so good.

You can debate the merits of one conference over another; what you can't debate is that the SEC is by far the most hyped conference.

-Tennessee/UCLA build up, analysis and game
-LSU/Appy St game
-Every third sentence written about the Bama/Clemson game (this one is probably the worst, because of the ACC/SEC dichotomy)

The worst one by far happened on I believe ESPN's college football show on Tuesday. The question was who had the better upset, Alabama over Clemson or UCLA over Tennessee, and John Saunders' answer was UCLA, because they beat an SEC team! Even when they lose, they suck off the SEC. Infuriating.

Seriously, if you believe this, you've lost it.

The Big 12 will be one of the top 3 conferences this year and if either the Pac-10 or SEC falters their respected reign at the top 2 is done. Big 12 has been a joke for a while now, but this conference is no joke now.

Notre Dame won a total of 3 games last year, two of them road games against the PAC 10.

But it is your fault that you honestly believe your 5th best team is that good.

The 5th best team in the SEC this year is probably Alabama, and they are on the level of most conferences best teams.

So you're saying that on a neutral field, that Alabama would be a favourite or a pick em against the following:

USC
Oklahoma
OSU
WVU

You're going to tell me that Auburn or Tennessee is better than Alabama?

And you're going to tell me that the team that lost AT HOME to LOUISIANA MONROE last year is as good as West Virginia, Ohio State, USC or Oklahoma?

Or I understand the meaning of the word "most" and you do not.







edit: I wouldn't bet on Ohio State or WVU on a neutral field against any of the better SEC teams (not saying I'd bet against them, but I sure wouldn't bet on them)
