Congrats to all of my SEC brethren. Another year, another ship for the conference of champions. Glad that we could do our part to make this conference better and today we celebrate as one.

I didn’t even know this thread existed lol. I was just explaining to the guy that made this thread that basically a 12 team playoff will only benefit the SEC and occasionally the BIG10. Any college football fans that think the SEC isn’t dominate is just delusional at this point. I told him in the college football thread that the last 4 nattys have been by 3 different SEC teams. He said that is a meaningless statement…..I know why now lmfao!!!!

And more SEC schools have won a title (5) than non-SEC schools (3).

UT and OU officially leaving the B12 after this year. have they announced the new SEC divisions yet? I assume UT will be in whatever division A&M is in, no clue about OU

I know the scheduling will be a hot topic as the SEC expands….

As a Georgia fan, I really want to make sure we play Auburn, Florida, and Tennessee every year.

Those games are far more meaningful to me as a fan than any regular season conference matchup, and they’ve been played FOREVER

Yeah I hope they roll with the pods idea

Not playing Georgia and Tennessee every year would be criminal. Also would like to keep playing LSU every year but If that’s cut then so it goes

Think they're getting rid of divisions and instituting 3 permanent rivals per team, but not pods.

As a UGA fan, keeping Florida and Auburn is mandatory and I'm kind of indifferent on Tennessee.

ESPN is really not wanting to budge on price without being convinced of more being in it for them though, so start with “what are the best nationally-rated games we can get?”, count on all of those, and keep going until you have your 3 perma’s booked.

If they agree to a 9 game schedule like this then I’d like to expect Bama’s to be, duh, Auburn, Tennessee, and LSU. Personally I’ll really miss the 2 Mississippi games but as long as we face one of them each year that’s at least mitigated. Plus I have a sneaking suspicion, if anything, they may bump one of the three for an annual Texas spectacle. The logical expectation of basically a SWC pod has the problem of little interest nationwide for UT-Arkansas.

I realize I am a freakish outlier about this, but I have basically never especially given a **** about the Tennessee game (from lower part of the state). This year’s ratings aside it’s been sadsack-abuse for like a decade now and I’ve developed faith they’ll be back there again soon enough. I guess Tenn could get UGA, Florida, and…Vanderbilt?

Trying to think “new bigger tv money due to HUGE RATINGS annual games” hence conceding Texas as a national-interest-generator and I got (bear in mind I’m bored in bed with a sinus infection so be gentle if it sounds stupid):

As lead pipe locks every single time annually right now:

Bama (or UGA maybe) - Texas
Iron Bowl
Cocktail Party
Red River
Whatever they call that Texas Thanksgiving game (for at least the first two years anyway)

Slam-dunk bi-annual hits (unless they make them annual):

UGA - Bama
UGA (or…Bama)- Texas
Bama - TAMU
UGA - LSU

As high-floor and sometimes HUGE annual:

UGA - Auburn
Florida - Tenn
Bama - LSU
LSU - Florida

Then a bunch of things I’d call more hit-or-miss medium-floor annual but could expect every year several look premium:

Ole Miss - LSU
TAMU - Okie
TAMU - LSU
UGA - Tenn
Egg Bowl

After that a ton pushed out by the above and/or logical pods but still often appealing bi-annually when both teams are hot:

Bama - Tenn
Bama - Florida
Auburn - UF
UGA - Scar
LSU - UT
TAMU - UGA
Bama - Ole Miss
LSU - Arky
Okla - various
Texas - various

So I’m generally thinking it looks tight to get 2 Mickey-motivating-more-money-now-super-awesome games per week without making a few moves betraying history and long-term fans. Probably UGA - Okie every year would be better ratings than UGA - Tenn, so I’ll be bracing myself for it.

They're paying big money for a product for the whole country (or at least the 75% in the ET/CT) which makes it pretty difficult to care about stuff that matters mostly to local fans. Even if that means "betraying" history.

That said, do we already know they're going to create two "A" games for the 3:30 and 7:30 time slots? The Big10 is going with an "A" game on FOX at noon and two "B" games on CBS/NBC at 3:30/7:30. SEC will certainly have an "A" game for SEC on ABC at 3:30 so the question is if they would try for another "A" game at 7:30 or two "B" games in the noon/7:30 slots.

I’ve only heard vague “won’t necessarily be prioritizing 3:30 slot”, “*Some* ABC Primetime games”, and “best ratings opportunities” type stuff.

At this point I just really hope they get more SEC games on broadcast tv, where I gain anywhere from 30 - 90 seconds, which is nice.

With the changes NIL is bringing and the dilution/expansion of the SEC, about the only other thing the SEC could do to decrease my interest even further would be to put Greg McElroy in two booths every Saturday.

Limiting SEC teams to no more than two cupcake games per year would re-ignite my interest tho.
