Hound vs the Mountain was of course awesome. Although not sure why they made the Mountain look like the zombie Varys.

Highlight of the episode: Qyburn getting killed out of nowhere
Second place: Cersei noping right out of there after

I dunno, I guess something to do with ratings vs. cost or whatever. Netflix is so secretive about their metrics and decisions that it's hard to say.

I think it's the former; she certainly has a long history of ranting about taking what his hers with fire and blood, and she's lost enough people she trusts and has had enough bad **** happen lately to be pushed to the brink, but like most things about the last few seasons, they've done a poor job of actually showing what is going on with the characters internally and leaving us to infer a lot of it.

I liked this episode but I also often feel like the only person on the internet who appropriately lowered my expectations a few seasons ago. This episode though gave me a lot of what I liked about the show, especially what people say they love about the books (especially book 4 with all its going nowhere in the actual plot)-- the way war between the nobles just rains hell on the smallfolks' lives and a lot of innocents get caught up in the crossfire.

Their father pardoned Gregor for it and then Gregor killed their father and little sister *shrug*. It's a good story in the books.

Thought the redeeming part of the episode was Dany just straight murdering everyone. At least her actions make some sense this week. Everything else was just comically inept. I have 1,000 words on why Varys never goes out like that but they're wasted energy at this point.

This was probably closer to -50,000 tbf

People fine with Danny burning are glossing over the whole break the wheel arc.

Also biggly glossing over the fact that she goes full just as the city surrenders, effectively after she had already conquered it. If they had been still nah **** you, then maybe, maybe, but no, it was the very signal of subjugation that triggered the Armageddon.

Previously once someone was ok you win, she was pretty accommodating.

Sure their are some pressures on Dany to unleash some fires etc, but the defining element of such was the gratuitous nature of it, absolutely targeting civilians with extreme prejudice.

Im gonna burn Cersie and if there is some collateral would have been fine, Im going to melt the whole city muhhahahhaaa just as it surrenders, not fine at all really.

But dont care that much at this point because KL getting blown up is the highlight of this season.

she has been set up as a mad queen forever

the arya parts were bad as was the random euron jamie fight but dany made complete sense

Yea dany def made sense and Arya is one lucky SOB. I guess Arya bailed on Cersei shows how much respect she actually had for the hound. People just mad their fan theories didn’t come true

Qubyrn the only person we actually saw die. Holding out hope for Varys and the mountain. GOT always keeps us guessing.

Varys is interesting because he didn't make a sound like the other victims of dragon fire. Maybe Varys is super special

Qyburn's death was a top 5 moment in the series probably. Laughed hard. Lifelong Mountain fan here now.

I think almost everything bad that has happened to anyone the entire series can be traced back to a terrible decision by Tyrion.

Think he might be the dumbest character in TV history.

Varys is super dead because he copped the fire from inside the 3pt arc as opposed to from a few miles over.

CleganeBowl was well executed, Euron vs Jaime was stupid.

Well set for Dany Drogon and Unsullied vs Jon and the rest for final episode I guess. Exactly how Jon and the rest conquer OP dragon is up for grabs. Maybe kill Dany in her sleep and hope Drogon doesn't find out?

Didnt get the weird little ritual he did with the ashes of the note and his rings. Seemed kinda magicky and weird.

Arya was sooo close to obtaining her decade long goal of getting Cersei, but decided to run around at the bottom of a jenga board instead.

And once again a MAN talked a woman out of achieving her life goals (Arya killing Cersei). Frankly a bit disappointed in the GOT writers in this day and age.

Not to mention Dany's burning KL to a crisp looks to have happened because Jon Snow rebuffed her advances the night before, which advances a "bitches be crazy" narrative.
