This ep seemed like a lot of either shout-outs or outright ripoffs.

- Theon's epic come from behind win in the fight was a nod to Rocky II, when Rocky Balboa, near death, somehow summoned the strength needed to knock out Apollo Creed at the last possible second.

- LF's ending was a nod to S3 E10 of The Wire, when Stringer Bell got tricked into showing up to his own murder after thinking he would be on the winning side of the double-cross. Bonus points since the victim here was Carcetti.

- the entire Jon Snow - Dany arc is like Princess Bride without the humor. Guy makes a comeback from being legally dead to bang the queen.

...and the evil dragon taking down the wall was a ripoff of 09/11.

By recent standards yes. But it ran for around 1:18, approximately the first 1:14 of which was "tense" dialogue, broken up only by the occasional witty barb. To be fair some of the barbs were pretty good.

Yeah, this. My wife speaks slightly more than conversational English and she really enjoys GoT. When I get negative about something stupid (like all of this season) she tells me to shut up, it's just a tv show. She's enjoying it far more than I am so who's the real idiot?

Biggest shocker of the episode for me was Qyburn not yelling for everyone to stop before destroying the wight, because that undead stuff is his bag. Palpable arousal from him playing with the twitching, detached hand. I'm sure he has a giant wood and leather case with all sorts of complex latches and clasps that would have been perfect for that thing to be kept in as his gimp.

I prefer dumb and exciting got over last night's dumb and boring.

The KL parlay was 45 minutes wasted. The entire resolution of the worst idea ever (kidnap the wight) is that Jaime marches North? (Actually the resolution is that the wall comes down.. but now it's real clear the writers had no good way of bringing down the wall so they contrived this entire horrible plot)

Sansa/Arya/LF was a very predictable end to a dumb side plot that never went anywhere

Theon chasing after Yara feels like a season 3 worthy side plot. Does anyone care about this?

Highlight was Sam being goofy.

Theon going away is just setting him up for some cheesy character-redeeming deus ex machina last minute save the day bull**** that I'm going to hate. **** theon
