I can sorta buy that they havent moved anywhere because they dont yet have a way to breach the wall. they think a dragon will be able to enhance their efforts, and NIGHT KING has his own future-seeing ability to know the lol plan of snowcean's 7 so he set that trap of one wight for them to catch thus causing the dragons to come to the rescue.

still doesn't make any sense why dany sent top men on this mission in the first place

The only show that didn't do this at all was Breaking Bad. Even the Wire had a massive dropoff in the last season. Kudos to Breaking Bad. Likely the greatest show that will ever be made.

GoT is off the rails now, but anything having to do with Uncle Nazi and his merry band of murderous Nazi friends in the last season of BB was ridiculous- the last episode especially. BB held out pretty long though. As far as nothing out and out nonsensical happening, I'd say Sopranos did it the best.

Time hasn't been kind to the last season of Breaking Bad at all imo. Walt's tape in "Confessions" might be the high point in the show (and is by far the best part of the final season - LOL Ozymandias fan boys) and Ozymandias was indeed really good - but the whole thing and Nazi plot line was essentially deus ex final season.

Still probably in my top 5-10 of all time, most likely 4-8 somewhere - but I think it's final season gets a much, much better rep than it deserves in hindsight.

I assume the wall coming down and the walkers crossing is a lock to be the final shot of the season.

Thought it would be ice dragon but they did that here.

pretty sure climbing the wall has been done in the show. Jon and Tormund climb it back in the Mance Rayder season right?

they didn't use ladders but the idea is the same - it's possible to climb, and doesn't seem any harder than pulling a dragon out from under water

Just to point out to a certain unskilled GOT watcher, The Night King has MARKED Bran and Bran is now south of the wall. This is most likely how they will bring the magic around/bring the actual wall down.
