a) They were resistant to fire in Hardhome (they radiated extreme cold when fire got close) - so at a bare minimum the characters in the show have to question if dragonfire works, and

Exactly. We had it confirmed who his parents were last season, but whether he was trueborn or a bastard was still unknown. His claim/right to the Iron Throne doesn't really matter though since he has little to no interest in holding it.

couldn't the show give some kind of clue as to what the white walker army is doing or why they walk so god damn slowly? Since Jon Snow and the Night King last met, one has done several seasons worth of story lines, the other walked slightly closer to the wall.
Bran apparently can't talk about seeing the past, present and future, but after controlling a couple of ravens and spotting the army thinks it's very useful to warn everyone.
Also it seems the last couple of season are going to lean heavily on teleportation, this whole new arc of capturing a white walker depends on it.

Having said all that: pretty good episode

That's like my only complaint in this ep. Jon basically received a letter saying "hey bran and arya are alive. Also, he saw the night king approaching. Come home." and he's just like "wow, bran's alive. He's also seen the NK in his visions." what visions mother ****er? It was presented like it was completely normal that he's now the westeros Google Street View.
Iirc bran has been having visions since he fell. Can't recall if he talked about them with Jon tho.

After Hardhome I think the White Walkers went back further north to wherever Bran and that cave were right? I'm assuming that was further away from the wall and Hardhome.

Also, anyone else think Cersei really isn't pregnant? I thought I remember something from the books about her no longer being able to get pregnant or taking something to prevent it. Been a while since I read them so may be way off base.
