by episode 9 of the last season of sopranos they were just having fun with the therapy dialogue but they were still just flat out nailing it nonetheless

Dream theory for BB is so awful it has to be a level. Nobody can be that stupid.

i didn't think anybody could be so naive as to think that BB wasn't ambiguous re: dream

Is ambiguous, must be a dream. Reality/ Life is never ambiguous.Never.

I'm rewatching BB from the beginning.

I forgot how much Walt's life sucked. I'm 15 mins into ep 1 and **** son, it all makes sense why he turned into Heisenberg.

it's pretty good although it's a little too generic and family friendly sometimes.

Pretty much this and fairly repetitive. I still like it as mild entertainment and sometimes it's good to have an "everything will be all right at the end of the episode yay family" kind of series...for example after BB finales

I really can't watch any comedies other than CURB and Eastbound.

Even when I can tell comedies are "good" like parks and rec and veep, I just find myself really board and not laughing.

I used to think the first five epsiodes of BB were the five worst in the series but they are much more interesting with the knowledge of how things play out.

Its clear that Gretchen played a huge part time in his past and Elliot was just some friend who he worked with. The Gretchen phone convo in s1e5 shows this.

I am glad they never explained what happened there.

Which episode was it? I think Modern Family is pretty great for about half a season and then pretty trite after that, with occasional exceptions.

Jessica Hecht (Gretchen) laid some of this out in an interview a while back. Spoilers if you still don't want to know:

Spoiler:
Walt and Gretchen were very much in love-- virtually engaged, if not actually engaged. Then Walt went on a holiday weekend at her family's vacation home, and felt judged/out of place/inadequate among their wealth, himself coming from more ordinary means. So sometime that weekend, he snaps and leaves without explanation. He breaks up with Gretchen and then shortly after divests himself from Gray Matter.

I'm glad they leave it more ambiguous in the show, but I've been under the impression some time that we're supposed to think Walt's pride ruined that relationship as well as his Gray Matter partnership, and this confirmed it.

yeah, on rewatch the details of walts departure from gray matter:
According to Gretchen: Walt abandoned me whilst we were vacationing with my (gretchen's) family, and then quit gray matter shortly after.
According to Walt: Gretchen and Elliot pushed me out.

Elliot doesnt seem like the "push him out" type, but Walt does see like the type to get offended at some minor slight and just quit.

i find myself nitpicking too often with most shows, even Breaking Bad, which i enjoyed had way too much wrong with it for me to really love it. I give up on almost every one after a couple of episodes.
For some reason I'm not like that with comedies, I guess I'm much more forgiving with the genre, as long as it makes me smile once in a while I'm ok with it.

I agree with this. Comedies deliver if they give me a good chuckle and 22 minutes of entertainment. The worst is going into a thread in OOTV like the Office or HIMYM and seeing everyone bitch about every episode, saying the series sucks, blah blah blah. I'm not expecting the Wire from any sitcom.
