watching one random episode of Married. I'm a big Judy Grear fan, and Jenny Slate is the cutest... but this seems like an awful show.

Can we update Godwin's law to 'as a thread grows longer the probability it devolves into ranking seasons of The Wire approaches 1'

Colin Farrell confirmed for True Detective Season 2.

I predict a personal struggle with alcoholism displayed as a character development sideplot.

Just wanna say Sons of Anarchy has basically devolved into an hour long episode of Fast and Furious every week pretty much.

However, I will still watch loyally until the end.

just finishing up season 3 finale of the shield after giving it another chance after quitting 2 seasons in about a year ago or so

def a good and intense watch. haven't got to season 5 yet which is apparently where it gets it accolades but a good show nonetheless. however

Spoiler:
holy **** i really don't think i am one of those misogynist viewers (maybe?) who hates every single female storyline but that one with vic and the chick with the police dog has to be one of the dumbest things ever. i don't mind the family storyline even though the wife seems like a ****ty actress to me, the autism angle is at least somewhat interesting and the split family thing. but between vic and the dog lady and vic gratuitously ****ing this armenian chick in the finale, just lol at anything with him and women. loled at kurt sutter speaking whatever as margos

every time someone else is converted to The Shield. Stay with it.

Spoiler:
I don't know exactly what you mean by "Female storyline." Are you talking about how much tail Vic gets? Are you talking anything with Corrine or Mara? Do Claudette and Danny fall into that category as well?

I agree that the relationship stuff was the weakest point of Shield. Also agree that Vic's wife seems like a rather mediocre actress.

His work/family struggles which are pretty much the core of the show could have been done a lot better.

no i like danny and claudette is awesome

i was mostly just talking about the dog lady from season 3. that whole storyline was just terrible and pointless filler. and i thought ****ing the armenian chick after
Spoiler:
her sister died and he killed marco and whatnot
was rather absurd and gratuitous

Modern Family premiere tonight. About to watch it, good show for what it is.

Saw that news today about Sarah Hyland and the restraining order on her real life BF. Weird time for that story to drop on the day of the premiere? I dunno.

Has anyone watched Gotham, thoughts?

I think it was ok but not great with potential upside. They crammed too many "name recognition" characters into the pilot. Don't quite like the Gordon actor. His eye movement is irritating. Cat woman sucks.

Penguin and Riddler seem to be cast excellently. I'm a Batman fanboy (my comic book reading is mostly non-superhero stuff these days but Batman is the notable exception) so I'll watch the entire first season at least.
Also like Harvey.

The pilot was written by Bruno Heller (Mentalist, Rome).

They just cast the new season of True Detective. Have you seen these photos of Nic Pizzolatto, the dude who created it? Holy ****, each one is more Magnum than the last. It's like that guy is begging people not to work for him. Never hang out with a writer guy who thinks writing makes him some kind of biker gang leader. The writing was probably the weakest part of that show (even though I liked it a lot). I bet they don't cover it up as well next time around.

I finished The Wire, it really is a great show and lived up to the hype. Off the top of my head I've probably got it in the top 3 OAT. I know the show has been discussed to death, so I just wanted to weigh in on who won worst character for me. Almost every character is great in the show, so the annoyingly bad ones stick out. Starting season 5 I though Gus might take the title with his confoundingly arrogant attitude, tough guy fidgeting mannerisms, and dog**** wisecracks that never failed to elicit forced guffaws from his kiss ass underlings. But he got a little better. The winner:

Spoiler:
Kima's girlfriend. What a wet blanket killjoy. Hated every minute she was on screen. Yes, every minute.

I guess I should preface this by saying I don't know you or your brother, I'm just some internet guy, and True Detective's first season was fantastic. But. I read that article and please tell me you at least gave him some **** for that shot where he's leaning his head against the wall in what looks like a dilapidated bowling alley.

I thought it was pretty good.
It's biggest problem is that eventually it's just gonna become another standard cop/detective show.
Characters seem pretty good.

It has a lot of potential. But could go either way. Will definitely watch the first season at least as well.

his wife was the creators real life wife and best friends with michael chiklis wife

pretty sure that is how she got the job. Mara was worse IMO and was a real actress.

Ronnie was the creators friend too I believe, but he turned out decent

I'd be fine with a decent cop show set in Gotham tbh. The "Gotham Central" trades are some of the best Batman-ish comic books I own.

Probably not going to be as dark as I want it to be but I guess it's wait and see time.

Yeah Gotham sucks compared to Arrow so I'm pretty much done with it.

Pretty bummed that Outlander is taking a fall break. The show remains a consistent 9/10 every episode and had probably the best sex centric episode ever. Tobias Menzies' acting is exceptional. That dude knows his craft. Destiny dictates he must appear in Sherlock Holmes but I will settle for his work on this show.

Outlander once again! Blood sex story it's all there.

I don't think it's worse than S1 of Arrow so far tbh. The first couple of episodes of Arrow were pretty cringe worthy. Acting in Gotham is quite a bit better, too imo Arrow acting is pretty horrible across the board (pretty much the posterchild of "wooden acting") but got a bit better as the show progressed. Gotham has Harvey and Falcone who are legit, Jim was better than in episode one. Penguin and Riddler have major potential. Batman, Catwoman, Alfred all meh-ish but a couple of the side characters looked solid as well.

Episode 2 wasn't much better than episode one but penguin alone keeps me interested. Catwoman wasn't as bad as I expected so that's good and I think the cop stuff is decent enough.

The main plot...pretty meh (the villain is one of the least interesting ones, too. Didn't like him in Arrow either)
