an episode with zero KL

mixed feelings on this episode. i feel like i'm going to like it a lot better the second time through. The problem is the kings landing stuff is so compelling. I think this episode was very well done, very well shot, paced well. But last week you ****ing killed the red viper and put dinklage head on a block. i could not give two ****s about the wall right now. I wonder if this episode would have been better as ep 8 and the mountain and the viper as ep 9. Of course, then you get the problem of mountain and viper are going to fight who gives a **** about the wall.

Nights Watch has 100 men. 300 of them are on the wall shooting arrows, 200 of them die on camera during the fight at the bottom of the wall, 6 get killed by the giant, how many remain?

By my count at least 100 were still there.

Don't think she was gonna kill him. Kid's shot and nod was pretty elite. Snow going out without his sword to protect it is fine with me but he could have at least taken another weapon. Guess he'll just pick up some weapon from the corpses so no big deal but still lowering his EV for no good reason in case someone is lurking around near the gate.

One giant can lift that gate...seems like a design flaw of sorts (I have no problem ignoring logic etc. a bit when it comes to the wall though). Also on that wilding speech before the fighting started I got quite the "Palestinian vibe" lol. They came to our land, build a wall etc.

Overall great episode. Time flew by once again. Feels like they can basically leave the wall now, Jon going out there is a good cliffhanger for next season...100% KL one time...gogogo (well mostly KL+resolve Arya/LF/Sansa situation a bit more would be fine as well)

It'll be like 50 minutes of Baelish bumbling over 10 accents and awful facial contortions, but like 2 huge moments and everyone will be posting "GoAT".

It's weird to me that people think this week sucked or was a letdown because they wanted Knights Landing. I think the showrunners made a good call. Just get everything regarding the wall done in one ep instead of jumping around a bunch and that way we can really focus on KL in the finale. This show is better when it's not so disjointed.

Whereas last week, my chief complaint was not enough KL. They were in KL for roughly 10 minutes of the ep. I wanted way more in the fight lead up (some Marjorie, and obv some Cersei and Tywin). And I woulda been pissed if they handled the trial fallout with only 10-15 minutes in this ep. Leave it for the finale and let them dive into it whole hog.

I enjoyed this week's episode.

If nothing else this week gave me faith that the payoff for all the other ****ty storylines will be totally worth it

Wall isn't bad, but it's no KL

It's better than Dany or Bran though which we're gonna have to sit through next week instead of 100% KL

I was questioning this as well. It was pretty LOL that the "100 men left" seemed to be completely disregarded. Big bearded dude that was trying to brag about ****ing a bear killed like 25 guys himself. Ygritte was just laying into so many crows they must have determined that showing all that death by arrow was overkill and kept the camera on her emo face looking for Jon Snow.

I certainly didn't get the sense that there were more than 100 men

show has also suffered from a lack of TYWIN lately who is a top character

I doubt that "we have 100 men" means "we have exactly 100 men".

I'll go back and count how many of the night's watch were killed, though.

I thought it was a great episode in and of itself, and I think those that didn't like it were the ones hoping for resolution in Kings Landing.

Actually 102. There was a scene earlier in the season specifically discussing how many men they actually had - and that most of them weren't rangers.

I'll try to rewatch for deaths tonight and hope that GOaT didn't mess it up.

Didn't look like a bunch of people fighting so the 100 number seems accurately reflected. -6?(I think 1+5) at the gate, -1 arrow through neck and a bunch of guys killed on the inside battle (O/U 25) arena. On the wall probably a couple of randoms butI'd guess maybe 5 max?

Do we know that the 6 who went into the tunnel to take on the giant were killed? If they were what happened to the giant?

They all died and so did the giant, Snow sees this with Sam before wandering out into the snow, alone, without his sword and without Ghost.

All of which seems well considered imo.

yeah, you missed the scene where Jon comes across Grenn's corpse, and is moved and touched and ****.

Looks most/all of them died, but took the giant down with them and held the gate.
