First 3 seasons of Lost were awesome but then it became quite clear they were making it up as they went. Combine that with numerous "important" plot points that were completely abandoned and you have a show that had an awesome beginning but wasn't able to bring it to a conclusion. S3 Finale of Lost could be my all time favorite TV moment. Looking back on the show though I think of how it failed at the end more then how it was awesome for 3 seasons.

2. Game of Thrones
3. Breaking Bad

4. Lost

Lost should have made the Finale of S5 a midseason episode of the final season, then cut out all the "alternate universe" stuff. The on-island storyline of the final season was good enough imo to give the story a satisfactory, but not great ending, then they could have had the same epilogue and left it at that, and I think it would have pissed a lot fewer people off. The whole thing of wasting all the time in S6 on something that just ended up being loosely tangential to the entire series so far was a giant FU to the fans.

If we're going to talk about discontinued network television shows, then this thread has way too much Lost discussion in it, and nowhere near enough West Wing discussion. After The Wire, I have The West Wing (seasons 1 through 3.5) as the second best show of all time.

Edit: Admittedly it's a tough show to discuss without Politarding, and obviously we want none of that here. Politics aside, though, the character development, dialogue, pacing, balance of serious and comedic, it was basically perfect (until Sorkin left).

I can't say I disagree with your assessment that it was "self-confident and snarky". I just don't agree that those are negatives. Those attributes are a large part of why I enjoyed the show so much, to be honest.

Family Feud has a marathon like every night and it is hilarious. First you have the families giving some of the most bizarre/terrible/wrong answers of all time which causes Steve Harvey to do Steve Harvey things like making fun of the families to their faces. And they have to stand there and take it because they are on TV. Definitely a top 3 comedy currently on air.

Yeah, Steve Harvey is pretty elite on Family Feud. I'd normally never choose to watch this show while surfing channels at home, but watched a few episodes at my sister's house. I was surprised how funny it was.

Also, +1 to The West Wing...definitely in my top 4 along with BB, The Wire, and Firefly in no particular order. TWW has a special place in my heart though due to it being the first show I saw and liked enough to marathon the **** out of. Good times.

oh and yea Steve Harvey Family Feud is legit funny from what i've seen

Shield was a frustrating show. it was great at a lot of things but it was just tough to watch a show centered around so many people you either hated or didnt give a **** about. definitely a good show but i think it gets overrated around here, not close to wire/bb/GoT imo
