Yeah this has nothing to do with anything that I was talking about with spin off boy.

Just to be clear, this:

I'm not even sure your statement is true, I listed as many shows as you and I could list more. I don't know the numbers on it, but neither do you so how can you say that with any confidence?

Anyway, it's completely ******ed to judge Better Call Saul before seeing one second of it based on 'Joey'. Saul is a great character that can be used in a lot of ways that would be hilarious/awesome.
This is the central point of what I am posting about. If you want to talk about how they are all TV shows, then go for it.

My point was that most TV shows suck, therefore the same logic you applied to Better Call Saul can be applied to any TV show.

Agree with everything. Being predictable isn't any kind of problem, you're supposed to go where you've been leading and that's how it ended. Doing dumb twists for the sake of being unpredictable is bad and I'm glad it didn't go there. As for complaints about plausibility like I don't know what show people were watching before; suspension of belief is a necessity. It was a genre show from start to finish. Just brilliantly executed.

suspension of disbelief is fine if the payoff is there, but there are limits and Breaking Bad crossed that line a little too often for me. For example, Walt telling Lydia he poisoned her is great in terms of closure for the spectator but if you've been watching the show you know there's no way she should die from it now. The shooting scene at the end manages to hit every single nazi, if that wasn't suspicious enough, two guys survive: todd so jesse can get his revenge, and his uncle so Walt can get the last "cool" moment.

I've been off the Internet since Sunday night so I haven't commented but what BB did was sort of fascinating - it tossed away any hope of being regarded as a serious drama or having anything at all to say about the real world, but it went out with an episode that gave a lot of the fans everything they liked about Breaking Bad. The episode doesn't make sense to me at all in a lot of ways and I might have to watch it again - I'd prefer it if it was a fantasy by Walt, that he gets to avenge the Nazis, destroy Lydia, patch things up with Skyler, keep his Heisenberg legacy secure, etc., but there didn't seem to be any indication that that was the case. I think I'll just choose to think of it that way anyway.

There really aren't limits as long as the show is true to the world and characters it creates. Breaking Bad has always been over the top. It's also "delivered" on these moments more than any show I can think of so not sure how not delivering is an issue here.

Also, if Walt can give Brock an exact dose to not kill him then what is to say he can't give Lydia an exact dose that he knows will kill her with an X hour jump?

Well for one, he's not in control of how much Stevia she puts in her coffee.

Well he watched her put the same amount in her tea every week for a few months when they met at that coffee shop.

Are you talking to me??

I got banned for a month simply BECAUSE I disagreed with the wrong people. I have no problem with disagreement.

You really should direct that suggestion to the thin-skinned OOTers who complained when someone disagreed with their inartfully reached consensus.

the things i mentioned having nothing to do with keeping true to the characters, it's just a little lazy writing to get the viewer happy. In fact things like Walter getting an automatic weapon on a day's notice doesn't bother me at all and it doesn't keep true to it's world.

Fallen,

Not sure we actually know Lydia shouldn't die. Brock wasn't poisoned by ricin. He was poisoned with berries. Jesse thought it was ricin. Maybe Lydia is too far gone. And also, imo, it really doesn't matter if she lives. She has to explain the ricin poisoning, her meth connection is gone, her number is in todd's phone and was the last number to call his phone. She's either dead or in deep ****.

Triumph,

We don't know the Stevia amount? Cmon. Gilligan has done nothing but drive home that she's a creature of habit. She's made remarks about needing two Stevias multiple times. So Walt removed all but one and poisoned that one.

I would have been totally fine with an ending where Walt fails and Jesse is still a slave and skylar is in jail. But this is fiction and the "happy" ending (where everyone in walt's life is still totally facked and he's dead) was fine and extremely well done.

KC: okay, fair point, I forgot she took 2 stevias. If she only took one, then you don't know how much is left in the package, etc.

Ricin poisoning is incurable.

kc, my problem is not that she should/could survive, what annoys me as a viewer in that scene is that it's there for the sole propose of making Walt look bad ass, and while that works fairly often throughout the show when it fails it's a little transparent and kind of kills the scene for me.

The entire finale was there for Walt to look bad ass. He hoodwinks his former Gray Matter founders and forces them into giving his son money, leaving them in theoretical abject terror. He tells Skyler that cooking meth wasn't about the family, it was about him, and that he enjoyed it. He kills the Nazis singlehandedly. Basically he kills all his enemies and forgives Jesse (this magnanimity is spat back in his face by Jesse), then dies doing what he loved - evaluating meth-making equipment. It has all the elements of a power-mad fantasy except for the suggestion that it's a fantasy.

The Walt/Lydia convo was more about leaving no doubt about the ricin/Lydia/impending death than making Walt look badass

They just did it in a badass way. Which is something they've done for 5 seasons in various degrees with various characters.
