Just a lurker here but you have my full support. 2 is probably the least fun to watch the first time through (where's all the characters I know? Who are all these white guys?) but gets better and better as you rewatch it. Some days I even think 2 > 3. Obv 4 is untouchable.

I actually thought that was pretty much the general consensus that 2 was the worst season FWIW, I like all of the seasons, but when I do have to rank them I always put 2 last because I hated the whole Sobotka/docks storyline, but I still think overall it was a good season just not my favorite.

I too felt this way - end of season 2 it picks up dramatically

at least it did for me

I watched and quite enjoyed the first season of heroes - should I keep watching?

Loved The Wire and agree 2 was my least favorite though still good, Stringer/Avon/Marlo gang stuff was my favorite aspect of the show so kinda thought S2 dragged a bit.

Haven't seen Deadwood(got like 2 eps in one time and trailed off), and only seen the first half of season 1 of Boardwalk.

If I start something now on HBOGO or the like, which is better? Already seen BB, Wire, GoT etc.

yeah, pretty much. And season 5 gets way too much hate, but apparently I'm in the minority because I really liked the newspaper angle, brilliant acting will do that for a story arc.

Both are great but i'd probably go with Boardwalk Empire just because season 4 is starting Sept. 8th and i'd want to join in the orgy it will no doubt create.

BE kind of starts out slow but the 2nd and 3rd seasons are amazing imo..maybe not on the GOATish tier of BB/The Wire etc but close.

The Shield is a top 5 drama of the 2000s. Probably #5, behind The Wire, Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, and Deadwood in some order, but it's there.

Freaks and Geeks isn't really a comedy and only ran one year from 1999-2000 so I'm not sure if it qualifies as "past 2000."
