This may be our last chance for a sumo thread, since the powers that be are getting serious about shutting this subforum down. This month's tourney is looking to be pretty exciting. Obv all eyes on Hakuho after he became the most winningest sumobro ever in July, but Kisenosato and Aoiyama are both legit contenders, meaning that three different countries could potentially win the Emperor's Cup.

Poor one out for the Limit-->NY forum, RIP.

If they close this down they someone should petition for a wrestling forum. Otherwise you may want to move these threads to Backgammon.

There is a wrestling subforum, but I'm afraid they might ban me if I started talking about sumo instead of WWE.

So many injuries this tournament. 3 out of 4 yokozuna are out, my man Ura out with a banged-up ACL. I worry that the league isn't doing enough to address sumo's knee injury crisis.

Lebron would take this down if he was in it

Lebron and Tom Brady vs Hakuho i think Hakuho still wins

They're sending up guys from the minor leagues to fill in for all the injured top-rank makuuchi players. Perfect spot for a Brady/LeBron tag team to wreck shop. afaict, there are no official rules against a two-on-one match.

They really need to get that "lets get ready to rumble" guy to do these things.

Ura probably out for a year. I'm still a couple of days behind, didn't see any news on my bulgarian cracka AIOYAMA but I'm guessing he's hurt as well?

idk, but you might consider seeing junior league sumo if they're too expensive.

Individual ringside tickets will run you about $150, while a 4-person box seat will cost about $350, and upper-deck arena seats are about $35. The challenge is actually getting them, as recently the tournaments have been selling out for all days within about an hour of going on sale.

There are also a few hundred same-day tickets for upper-deck nosebleed seats available each day, but you should plan on getting in line by about 5am if you hope to score those.

If you can get your hands on some first-floor seats, it's definitely worth whatever the extra cost for the experience compared to upper-deck seats.

Here is where you can order tickets

That other Bulgarian guy (not Aoiyama) is a total heel. He's done that underhanded sidestep move three times already.

Aoiyama also a heel. Did you see him send his opponent flying into the spectators with an unnecessary shove well after the bout was decided?

I gotta think they only import white guys specifically to be heels, right?
