We are nearing the greatest time of the year in SPORTS. NFL, CFB, CHALLENGE and NBA seasons are all right around the corner. SOCCER is back after ~4 long months, and the last Majors of the year will be played soon in Tennis and Golf. We all have raging stiffs knowing FALL is within arm's reach.

Unfortunately, not everything is rainbows and butterflies. Yesterday, the SPORTS world was rocked with the saddening news of the GOAT - STEVE "SMITTY" SMITH announcing that he will be retiring at the end of this NFL season.

With that said, we need a thread to celebrate some of the GOATs in the Sporting world. Athletes who possess the special "WIM" factor that propel them inexplicably into greatness. Something that is greater than any skill set or genetic mutation. An indescribable force that allows special individuals to excel in their respective SPORT beyond any honorable metric.

nutshot2: LOL 8bus wtf is wim u idiot

Here's what I've got for you, Shat:

I'm happy to report that WIM started here at 2P2 - circa 2010 in Threadzilla. It's pretty safe to say that Bill Simmons has read 2P2 for some time now and ripped us off shortly thereafter, and now WIM is an extremely common acronym/phrase in the SPORTING world. Tap yourself on the back ETATS and MEB.

I will kick off the thread by selecting the first and strongest candidate in the WIM category: Mr. Steve "SMITTY" Smith himself. I highly doubt anyone finds or posts another athlete that can top this guy's WIM or even come close. SMITTY is 5'9" 185 and has been STYLIN' on the league since 2001. This year will mark his 15th year of making the entire league his bitch. There is an endless list of casualties that SMITTY is responsible for: corners, defensive backs, coaches, teammates, owners, etc.

SMITTY has so much WIM that he essentially single-handedly carried the Carolina Panthers, a historically pathetic and useless franchise, all the way to the Superbowl.

Let's get to the good stuff. Smitty went to college at a two year school - Santa Monica - where he was teammates with lol Chad Johnson. After his 2 years there, he transferred to Utah where he set the school record for YPC at ~20 (thanks wiki). He then went on to be drafted in the 3rd round of the '01 draft by the LOL Panthers.

He spent 13 sweet, sweet years in Carolina and in my mind, he is undoubtedly the GOAT Panther. Not sure it's even debatable. As mentioned, he's 5'9" and sub 200 and he has remained relatively unscathed in his 14 years in the NFL. Another testament to his ridiculous WIM. Another absurd obstacle that SMITTY has had to overcome are the pieces of cow**** that he has had throwing to him over the years. The starters...
  • Chris Weinke
  • Rodney Peete
  • Jake Delhomme
  • Vinny Testaverde
  • Jimmy Clausen
  • Cam Newton
  • Joseph Flacco

However, he has not let that slow him down in the slightest.

14th on all time Receiving list. 18th on all time Receptions list. 10th all time all purpose yards.

SSS has provided the numbers, definitely, but he has brought even more LOLs to us over the years. SMITTY is arguably the GOAT entertainer as well. Guy does it all.

Use this thread to help promote the disgusting acts of WIM. Our favorite athletes with outstanding WIM and talent much preferred. With all major sports starting here soon - now is as good of time as any to highlight future, current and past athletes - both single performances and athletes altogether.

Anything else SMITTY also strongly encouraged.

I'll leave you with these:

WIM means you want it more than the other guy and Steve Smith is a ring less loudmouth midget with a chip on his shoulder who's a weapons permit away from being Aaron Hernandez

THIS is WIM

It looks like his body finally broke down, but Rafael Nadal always seemed like a WIM type of tennis player. Where most of the other top guys like Djok and Fed rely on pure skill and grace, seems like he just grinded out point after point, throwing his body around until it finally couldn't take anymore.

I am a super casual tennis fan though, so maybe this is a real ****ty example. I donno.

Think a WIL gutless loser thread sponsored by Sam Querrey would be more entertaining.

Steve Smith is 13th in playoff yards playing as the only throwing option, with garbage QB's, and like 1/3rd of the games of most everyone else on the list.

also in case we need to defend the planet

His body slam count is way higher than just that sherman video but not only is that vs a CB GOAT level but sherman is also half a foot taller than steve is.

Eckstein did not join a team for the 2011 season. In June, it was reported that he received offers from the Padres and other teams, but opted to not play baseball. He is working for his wife, actress Ashley Eckstein.[9] He officially retired on January 22, 2012.
