I just watched the Opening Ceremonies...and as a Canadian, I want to say I am proud, but wow, that sucked!
Yes, we get it! Native Canadians were here first! but wtf??? lol.
and then the big fat guy reciting that "powerful" poem LOL
they just over did it. just tried too hard.
fail!!!
Fat guy made me think I was watching a Molson commercial. There must be other Canadians that are like me: Don't like hockey, don't care for winter sports, etc. Only thing I'm looking for is Colbert Nation speed skating.
I watched the olympics tonight with the intention of informing everyone
NBC kept bashing me over the head with the awesome fact that no canadian has ever won a gold medal at an olympic games held in canada (there have been two previous).
Tonight, Canada's best mens 1500 m short track skater couldn't sniff the medal stand and the Canadian golden girl who was a favorite to win the women's mogul was blown out of the water by an American.
This thread should officially become the "can canada finally win a gold medal at home" sweat thread. 0/5 on events so far, including one event where they had the outright favorite.

the best bet is the womens hockey team btw. just started watching the canada vs slovakia game and they already have 6 shots on goal, most of them wide open, only 1:30 into the game. they destroy nearly every team in the world 100% but a couple and are still big favorites over those couple imo.

You think NBC states that gold medal fact a lot. CTV mentions it about every 4 seconds.
