I kind of buried the lede, though, since the above wasn't too surprising: he apparently has a very right leaning blog that he gets up early to update every morning. I don't have the heart to read it because I really like the guy otherwise. Obviously they're both voting for Trump.
I've really never gotten this attitude. Like it's amazing to me that people pay into the tax system and begrudge the people who benefit from those tax dollars.

meh idk, it obv depends on tone but I wouldn't be upset about the tax comment if I was in that situation. What is on that blog however is probably upsetting.

He also legit has an arsenal in his house, and apparently casually has a gun sitting next to him while he blogs. For inspiration, I guess?

[snark] Heaven forbid that money goes to other people. It should go to infrastructure and keeping us safe, but not directly to other people. I mean what message does that send? [/snark]

And she is voting Trump. What. The. ****.
so ive read a decent bit of the pro-trump stuff and there are a few not totally deplorable reasons:

just a republican and voting republican is what you do. that's your team.

single issue pro-life

fundamental unhappiness with the system/the way things are moving

a feeling that society is drifting. it's falling apart and there's a need for a strong authority to take control.

not feeling like the target of trump

opposition to the other side (democrats, minorities, immigrants etc.).

feeling like your side is ignored, overlooked and losing and you need a champion that is guaranteed to be on your side and will fight for you (trump humiliating himself just shows he's willing to fight for you even when he's wrong).

taxes and democrats will spend all the money.

some might actually like the tacky clown.

in reality a lot of those tie into some pretty shameful stuff, but some of it can almost be defended too.

I think it has something to do with trend of reimbursement rates going down in programs gov't is involved in and Obamacare and Dem polices are obv getting gov't more involved. Think cash from medical costs spiraling is ending up in the pockets of drug companies and hospitals, and vast majority of docs who don't find a way to get equity in one of the medical industry's cash cows are expecting to continually make less and less money.

I think this is the gist.

My wife went from managing a fairly successful surgical practice to a pretty high level position inside the revenue cycle department for the state hospital here in corn country, so she understands/is sympathetic to both sides. I enjoy it because it means I don't have to open our medical bills.

A couple of rich suburban neighborhoods around where I live actually stopped having trick or treat a few years ago. Gave a couple bs reasons but everyone knew it was because black kids who don't live there were trick or treating there.

Well, I have it on good authority that she's part of the Illuminati, so take anything she says with a grain of salt.

The link is pretty obvious. I pay dollars and some people are taking my dollars because they don't work hard. Though that's not really how it works.

They should be begrudging people like Nath and I who contribute nothing to society even if we make dollars.

Nah, I just bought a nice selection of the good stuff and let the kids go wild. In any case, I prefer to virtue signal online anyway, since I'm shy and it kind of gets me embarrassed in real life when I see people realize how much better of a person I am than they are.

I would like to explore the concept that behaving like a good and tolerant person is lamentable "virtue signaling" that makes worse people uncomfortable and is therefore itself an affront upon others:

Spoiler:
lol

also lol steelers
