I figured something would have been out yesterday but I guess they're going to screen test a few different options through the usual muppets on the Sunday morning shows. Don't think "workplace jihad" is gonna make the cut.

My working theory is he was planning to shoot up a football game but prematurely snapped after arguing with his co-worker whether or not Islam is a religion of peace.

Who knows how many lives that co-worker saved.

I'm ready for the next "event" in the off chance the dead didn't have it coming by posting mean stuff on facebook:

Yesterday, The NYT had a piece on how (irrationally) scared people are now. It was basically a half-dozen letters from the minds of crazy people afraid to go shopping. It reminded me of my own thoughts, typical masculine, about how to handle specific alien or zombie scenarios that I think about ALL THE TIME.

They both entered the apartment of the workplace jihadists, with or without permission from the landlord (haven't followed up, landlord says he didn't let them in) and started publishing IDs and social security and such.

And oh yeah it's still an active crime scene under investigation.

The Landlord took the boards off the door to go into the house (which was not ruled a closed crime scene by Sheriff or FBI), media follows him into the house, start rummaging through the terrorists' personal belongings including showing Farook's mom's CA Driver's License.

Also some people who aren't even media entered. Someone brought a kid in. Apparently someone else brought a dog in (? source is Gawker on that).

Wow. Seems like a huge fail by a lot of people.

So this is just gonna keep getting weirder. The baby is probably Elvis.

Guns per person is a bull**** metric. Rubes that the NRA has scared into buying a personal Matrix-esque arsenal aren't that much more deadly than one guy with one gun. But guns per household has been going steadily downwards for years.

Bleh, should have included that. But he's had a number of Cruz related tweets over the last four or so years that are all pretty amazing.

wifer showed me a pic of confiscated weed, scales, cash and a couple guns on a table that the police got from someone a couple blocks away.

I said that the (like, an ounce or two of) weed was just an excuse to steal the money and guns (that they'll sell for more money). she said that "they probably rob people with them, I'm glad they got caught"...

I replied, "we have more weed and more guns and more cash in this house right now. think about what the table they could put on the news would look like if the police searched our house for an hour and some idiot saying we probably were out robbing people".

Thanks for sharing this. Says at the bottom that it's the first front page editorial they've run since 1920. Sad that it's on a Saturday, the day with the lowest circulation. Either way, clearly it is to direct the focus of Sunday morning programming.

I usually hate the Times big editorial because it's so trite and passive-agrressive, but there are well-crafted non-passive statements to note:

"It is a moral outrage and a national disgrace that civilians can legally purchase weapons designed specifically to kill people with brutal speed and efficiency. These are weapons of war, barely modified and deliberately marketed as tools of macho vigilantism and even insurrection."

and

"No right is unlimited and immune from reasonable regulation."
