It's not a terrible derail.

It always exposes the gun-grabbers as center-less and ill-informed, and then devolves into REEEEEEEEEE guns scare me.

Schu knows the difference between automatic and semiautomatic. He doesn't give a **** about the fact that you think assault rifle necessarily means automatic, because that hasn't been universally the case in the American lexicon.

I mean, Schu pretty clearly knows that this was a legal weapon to own, despite you taking umbrage with his terminology. His commentary was about their capability of discharging a large number of rounds in a fairly short amount of time for the purposes of killing large numbers of people.
