back in January 2021 when Biden was appointing people it was a jubilee of diversity where every other day it was ‘first Asian to do this’, ‘first Native director of the Indian office’, ‘first black Sec Def’ and it was basically fine because people voted for it.

Lets define ‘affirmative action hireÂ’ here. Its when you need a Vice President and say out loud ‘I will pick a black womanÂ’. That means you donÂ’t start thinking ‘who can be president if my 80 year old ass dies’ , you sort all the candidates by skin color first, remove all groups but one, then pick one.

Well Kamala Harris has a approval rating of 38% and somehow no one noticed that just a single staffer has stayed with her over her career. Every capable high level staffer left her within a year. she is not an effective public official.

The second most prominent affirmative action hire, Lloyd austin, was at the top of the chain of command for AmericaÂ’s most embarrassing military defeat in (insert number below 232) years. The answer is the most embarrassing in all of the 232 years. HeÂ’s been a disaster.

Now the most important appointment Biden makes will be another glorious affirmative action hire, but it’s not 2021 anymore. People are sick or incompetence. Choosing your candidates for the Supreme Court by race and sex is going to go over like a lead balloon. Voters threw out the democrat party of Virginia en masse over race in schools. Rs are testing the attack ‘democrats are denying Covid treatments to white people’. And then affirmative action comes to the Supreme Court right in everyone’s face for weeks.

It’s mostly a disservice to qualified black female justices to not give them the opportunity to compete for the nomination against a slate of their peers because, if confirmed under this process, their entire career will always have the notation ‘Oh yea Biden gave her the black woman seat’

My company has one black executive, the chief diversity officer. There’s one female exec, that same diversity officer.

My company needs affirmative action badly. But it’s not all that serious here at my company. The Vice Presidency, our military and the Supreme Court are a bit more serious, so maybe don’t sort by race before you hire. Maybe sort by competence.

There’s like a thousand people who are qualified to be on the Supreme Court.

The idea that there’s some measureable intellectual prowess that makes Appeals Judge X a more “competent” choice than Law Professor Y is ridiculous. They used to put random old white dudes on there who weren’t even lawyers back in the day.

In the past 50 years or so you’ve basically had to have some baseline elite resume that’s like the top .1% of lawyers but that’s still a lot of people to choose from. After that, all sorts of factors come in that don’t have to do with “competence” - political leanings, ease of confirmation, age. Why not diversity?

Barret is distinctly less “Ivy” than the rest of the court. What Rs were complaining that she was a “diversity” pick?

Edit: You could apply this to affirmative action as a whole as well. To me, all it means is taking into account factors that weren’t previously accounted for. But looks like it’s going to be illegal in a few months anyways so whatever more testing for everyone!

Small correction here, "97% more likely to die" should be "97 times more likely to die". I apologize for my error and will try to do better in the future.

I'm seeing a lot of "white house pressured spotify into deleting Rogan episodes", but I don't see it sourced how and it seems like they just deleted the ones Rogan was racist in?
