I’m sure the gist of this won’t surprise anyone, but it’s really bothering me:

I watched my wife (who was diagnosed with severe brain injury while battling brain cancer, stroke, concussions, hydrocephalus, seizures, surgical trauma, and radiation damage) ace that test dozens of times over the course of 7 years. All except for immediately after significant medical events with anticipated new impairments when the results were used to target recuperative therapies. No one ever seemed surprised, at all, when she got all answers correct, ffs.

It is misleading (for laypersons) to call it a “cognitive” test in that it is really only trying to identify specific skill/ability impairments which may be making the person “look like” they have real cognitive deficits, but that can be treated. You can’t trust humans to simply see this kind of stuff, you see? After addressing those through therapies a psychologist would perform an actual cognition test which is lengthier and more exploratory of how soundly the person is actually processing information. That’s the one we want Trump to take. So his personality disorders can be diagnosed, you see. Pretty sure that doctor malpracticed by giving Trump that particular test just as much as if he’d given him a pregnancy test. I would advise Trump to sue him if he truly asked for the test to see if he’s “all there”.

It's a dementia test given to millions of seniors every year. More than 15% of people Trump's age have some level of dementia so it's quite reasonable to give him the test every year given the position he holds. It's an absurdly easy test to ace as you said until it's suddenly not. Once you score below 20 I think you're considered to be mildly cognitively impaired and even some family members might not realize their loved one is that impaired until the score drops below that point.
