His civil rights foray ended 55 years ago though. Like, he had zero affiliation with anything civil-rights related after 1965, and in 1968 he moved to Vermont. So at-best he's 52 years into living in a non 90+% white state while doing nothing for POC in Vermont, or even hiring POC until ten years ago.

Bernie's civil-rights foray is meaningless, Mitch freaking McConnell has a much more celebrated history ffs.

Disagree strongly about the more celebrated and meaningless parts strongly unless you can spell it out.

I don't think he's a racist fwiw, he's just an out-of-touch old white man from a very white state with only white friends until a few years ago.
so everyone that voted for Bernie thinks that Biden is racist then?

btw, what are the actual numbers on black voters? bc I thought it was like 60-40. you guys act like Bernie got Trump level numbers.

First thing I found from a quick search, exit polls for Super Tuesday:

Biden 58% of black voters, Bernie 18%

Not quite the single digit numbers that Trump got but <20% is pretty low.

The divide is clearer when you look at age groups. Biden won older people handily, Bernie won young people more narrowly but still clearly. The problem was that older folks voted in massive numbers and young voters didn't

Sad day: ARIZONA has crossed the rubicon... its epidemic now exceeds Brazil and Peru to be one of the hardest hit regions in the world. Exceeding all European countries as well.

Today: Record cases, record positivity %, record ER, record hospitalizations, record ICU.

Madrid and NYC were higher at their peaks. AZ could likely to pass them at this rate of climb. But Arizona has just passed Lombardy, Italy at its highest peak.

hmm, seems bad

buncha states about to get crushed

wild how these clowns won't even advocate for ppl to wear masks in order to help mitigate the damage

Bernie actually won with young people by a larger margin than Biden won with older people according to those WaPo Super Tuesday exit polls (naive averaging of the percentages across the four age groups would be Bernie 34.5 - 33.8 Biden). The different numbers who voted in each age group is obviously the most important point though; the volume of votes Biden received from older people more than counter-acted the slight edge Bernie had in their respective favourable demographics.

Q-pac poll:

52-44 support removing Confederate statues, up from 39% in Aug. 2017
49-44 approve of how police are doing their job, down from 65% in April 2018
66-27 support ending chokeholds
57-30 favorably view BLM
68-27: discrimination against black people is serious problem

edit - diff pole:

“About half of American adults now say police violence against the public is a ‘very’ or ‘extremely’ serious problem, up from about a third as recently as September last year.”

also saw a poll the other day showing that "defund the police" is only down like 4 points among dems

Can't find the one I read yesterday broken down by party showing DTF was actually up among Dems, but down among Independents and Republicans. Thought it was YouGov but Google isn't helping.

Bolton says in his new book that the House in its impeachment inquiry should have investigated Trump not just on Ukraine but for a variety of instances when he sought to intervene in law enforcement matters for political reasons.

Trump didn’t seem to know that Britain was a nuclear power and asked if Finland were part of Russia, Bolton writes. Intelligence briefings were a waste of time “since much of the time was spent listening to Trump, rather than Trump listening to the briefers.”

Trump directly asked China’s Xi to buy agricultural products to help him win farm states in 2020, Bolton writes. Trump was “pleading with Xi to ensure he’d win. He stressed the importance of farmers, and increased Chinese purchases of soybeans and wheat in the electoral outcome.”

Trump talked about intervening in criminal cases like ZTE and Halkbank "to, in effect, give personal favors to dictators he liked," Bolton writes. "The pattern looked like obstruction of justice as a way of life, which we couldn’t accept."

Bolton confirms previous NYT report on Trump linking security aid for Ukraine to his desire for investigations into Democrats. But he says Democrats should have looked at the Halkbank and ZTE matters, among others, to build a broader case.

nobody saw it coming...

Bolton writes in WSJ: "Xi had explained to Trump why he was basically building concentration camps in Xinjiang. According to our interpreter, Trump said that Xi should go ahead with building the camps, which Trump thought was exactly the right thing to do"
and the bit where pompeo had to run around the world trying to give kju an elton john mixtape was pretty funny too

I can't believe people still want to say "strongly and loudly voicing your advocacy and taking direct action for something most people believe is extreme is actually just going to hurt your cause, and you should start off from a compromise position to better ingratiate yourselves with people who want to perpetuate injustice"

Like yes, most of the change we are seeing (so far!) is among the lower-impact stuff people are demanding. But the fact remains we are seeing this change everywhere, and isn't it funny how it's happening right when people stop moderating themselves. And isn't it funny how that fits a historical pattern with all positive change.

well many of the people saying that have a clear agenda to oppose such change. the people repeating it are just dumb and unable to critically think so they just regurgitate what the lying biased fake news media spouts.
